BGS under attack for Season Pass announcement.

Agree - I typically give people the benefit of the doubt. After a few burns (Assassin's Creed 3, what was I thinking) I've learned to be a more selective consumer, but Bethesda haven't given me a reason to doubt their commitment or quality.

I wonder where all the people already ordered the season pass. Pay more for them individually and complain. Don't even buy them and complain.
Don't buy the game and complain. Don't even know what games are and complain. Don't even have dishwashing minigame and complain.

Just gamers whining too much. The gamer community has that reputation. We whine a lot more than we should. I think this offer is a good one for any fan of fallout that keeps buying everything fallout related. Bethesda is a known company that has proven itself for their quality games, and there's no need to be angry at this.

This is news, of course there's people out there who aren't happy about this (Me Included).

I just hope DLC doesn't suffer because of the season pass.

I kind of know I'm gonna like all dlc's so I'll probably get that pass. If Ubisoft came up with the same marketing strategy, I can tell you I wouldn't buy their season pass lol.

Funny part is no one HAS to buy it. They can wait until the first DLC comes out or until they announce the DLC. That's what I personally am going to do is just be patient and wait and see what they release or announce. Worst case Ontario I just buy the DLC that I like and want and never get the season pass.

This^

They're not announcing day-one DLC. They're not saying it's fully outlined and ready to go. The only thing that they announced was that there will be DLC for Fallout 4 and that they'll offer a Season Pass for it. And to note - the season pass isn't even available for purchase yet (at least when I checked about a week ago). And on top of that, they said it will included all DLC that they do for F4 - ever. That's a hell of a better promise than what most other companies do (*cough*, gearbox).

If that upsets anyone, then they're a [censored]in idoit. I don't have time or patience to show them any respect.

While I can absolutely see wanting to wait and make an informed purchase before putting money on content the details of which haven't been released yet, for a game that's not even out - I can't help but feel a tad sorry for anyone that's feeling actually anger over something as trivial as the announcement of the impending existence of a season pass.

You can't even buy the season pass yet. And even once it does go up on sale, there's nothing stopping someone from waiting as long as they want before making an informed decision. Heck, you can wait until all the DLC has come out and been reviewed before you buy it, even - these things aren't generally limited offers.

Also, it's rare for there to be a torch-wielding mob about something to do with Bethesda and not see some carry-over of it into the forums. Since I'm not seeing tons of threads complaining about the season pass this strikes me as nothing more than click-bait on a slow news day.

This is not a new way to consume content. BSG isn't doing anything different than many other forms of media before it.

Long ago, before mass adoption of the internet, we had things called Newspapers and Magazines. One *could* buy one's favorite magazine or newspaper periodically. However, tons of people trusted their preferred brands, and thus decided to spend up-front sums to receive the magazine/newspaper each period. Miraculously, they did so without knowing what the entire years content syllabus was.

They called these "subscriptions", and multimillion dollar sales industries were built to meet the demand for it.

*You* prefer to know first before you buy. That's awesome. It clearly means the season pass subscription is not for you.
*Others* know they're going to buy the DLC anyway. The season pass is a way of rewarding the trust of those consumers.

Just wondering why someone wouldn't be happy with something that they don't have to do. Nobody is going to make you take the chance. If you do take the chance (like I will) on a season pass and it doesn't turn out to be a good deal, that is their loss. But everyone is entitled to wait and pay full price for the items they are interested in after they know what it is.

And why would it make the DLC suffer? I'm quite sure they will want to make something that will sell at full price. Really, it's just a bit of a discount for those who trust the company to do the right thing and it's no skin off the backs of those who don't.

The people willing to take the risk, get a better deal. Those that aren't pay full price which without the pass everyone would pay full price. It's sort of a bonus for loyalty and trust.

I like the fact that they have announced DLC and a season pass. I don't care if they tell me now what it is, and they may not know. Perhaps they are waiting to see what is asked for before they commit, or just see what people are doing in the game to get an idea of where they should go with a DLC.

I bet that some DLC will be related to settlements, another may be a whole new area with a distinct quest attached to it. Some of it just might be new armor and weapons. Either way, I will buy the season pass eventually. My only hope is that they don't release anything too soon as with 400+ hours of content I just don't see myself needing more than the base game for quite some time.

Actual not against the idee of a season pass, got it when L.A. Noir came out and never realy regreted it. Though untill i know more of what is going to be part of the season pass, i'm holding of on buying. Like some people above me said, it totaly depends on what DLC is going to be made and released wether it is worth it, but honestly if it's anything like the horse armor for Oblivion, or the house building in Skyrim in terms of price vs content, then they can keep it.

I look at Bethesda's announcement of a season pass for products they might not have even started planning yet, yet alone making, to be annoying, just like Square Enix's announcement that the announcement of Final Fantasy XV's release date is going to come in 2016. Do you actually have something to announce? No? Just announcements of forthcoming announcements? Then just be quiet and wait until you actually have something to show.

u guys know what is the worst part, they announce a season pass, that u cant buy yet.

Todd said during E3 that they are focus right now on the release of the game so they arent working on any DLC; my point is, they just announce they will do a season pass no that they release one already.

Most likely they will give us more info about it when they actually release it so we can buy it.

ppl just hate bc they can hate. that what most ppl do on video game websites.

So how many "Colors of Power Armor" DLC will we get for $30 anyway?

This is really a tactic of game companies that are afraid. Afraid that their game svcks. Afraid there will be no after market for the game. Afraid if they don't get all the money they can now they'll never get it. I don't believe (and I certainly hope it's true) that Bethesda should have these fears. If you know you're game is good and you know if you put out $40 worth of DLC that $40 of DLC will be bought, then why on earth do this?

And my biggest fear is once Bethesda feels like they met their $40 quota ... they'll just stop making DLC. Doesn't matter if they still have some great ideas or not. Why waste time on something they'll just have to give away.

I disagree.

Again, you can't buy the Season Pass now - we don't know when it'll go on sale. It's not even news that they're going to have one - everyone else is doing it, so how much of that is fear, and how much of that is responding to market pressure? I can obviously only speak for myself but I wasn't in the least surprised to hear they were going to have one for Fallout 4, it's pretty much standard practice now.

If I'm going to buy all the DLC at some point anyway, why do think I shouldn't be able to save some money on those purchases? Why do you feel I should pay (what is essentially) extra when there's already an option out there where I can save money by buying in bulk? Isn't that a pretty common practice elsewhere? Why are you against me being able to save some money? ;)

Hell, I wish Crusader Kings 2 had a season pass...

I'm just baffled at the fact that because Bethesda is doing this it's ok on this forum, god forbid CDProjektRed had done something like this with Witcher 3. We'd all be lampooning them to no end. Also this notion of "You don't have to buy it" completely ignores the principal of the matter. The principal being that a game company can sell content in advance that they give absolutely no info on and just boldly claim the content will be worth the cost. No game company has done this until now, game companies always give at least an outline of what content will be in said season pass (i,e skins, characters, weapons, quests. etc.).

omg how is this a tactic, it was just a announcement, nothing else, lol u cant go and buy the season pass right now, can u ????

they just announce they will make one, and probabbly will cost 30$.

i wish ppl just stop complaining till the season pass actually come out and actually complain if what they offer as DLC is actually recolor power armor, that will svck. But i doubt Bethesda will do something like it, when their companies is know for releasing good DLC.

Season pass is a away to get fast money to keep developing, u will buy a "pass" that allow u to get everything for less money. And like i said early, when they DO release the Season Pass they probably will give us more info about it.

O.o o.O where are u getting the idea of no info????? ppl need to stop QQ about it, it was just a announcement not a release of the season pass, they didnt go and said " buy the season pass now for 30$", they said " we will make one, probably will cost 30$"

Because its cash in hand. Would you rather have 80 dollars today, or 100 5-6 months from now? With that cash, they can then reinvest in more projects, or buy themselves a golden pimp boy.
