That's my concern as well.
Nothing "just" gets done by a multi-million dollar company. This was a planned move to garner headlines and interest in their product. Sounds like a tactic to me.

Did I say we can buy a season pass now? I mean seriously where did I say that? Do you guys even read a post before to respond? Talk about reading into a post something that just isn't there. If you have a point you want to make then just state it. No need to quote my post in it. What the hell are you responding to?
I'm thrilled you all would have bought all the DLC anyway. Me Too! But I fear we won't be getting all the DLC we could have since they'll just stop making it once 'they' determine that $40 worth has been made. Three nice DLC would be nice. Five nice DLC would be even better.
And I don't believe for a second that Bethesda is 'short' on development money for making FO4 or it's DLC.
Definitely feel no sympathy for someone who buys it now and ends up disappointed with the content. If such a person were to get angry and blame anybody else but themself over it, then they probably need therapy.
Granted, a golden pimp boy would be pretty cool.
Yeah, unless Todd Howard's blown the treasury on pies, I can't imagine that this season pass is actually going to be funding the development of DLC. It really shouldn't be that way anyway. What if the cash dries up before you make $40 worth of content as promised? Suddenly, you've lied in your marketing, and your only justification for lying is that you're apparently incompetent and mismanaged the development of DLC.
Besides, if new funds are going into the Fallout 4 DLC war chest, I'm sure the lion's share will be coming from Fallout 4 itself and not season passes.
I thought so. You would have to have its buttons be gems though. I was thinking of rubies and sapphires and a dash of emerald. Diamonds.. are just not shiny enough.
This makes no sense at all because obviously not everyone is buying the season pass. People will pick and choose, or not plan in advance, or just prefer to do it a la carte. If Bethesda releases new DLC, they will be making money on it.
You're baffled because of how this compares to a hypothetical scenario you just made up? If Witcher 3 has a season pass I wouldn't buy it because I don't have the same trust in CDPR as I do in Bethesda. I also wouldn't be angry at CDPR. I might buy some DLC, and if it's good I might buy some more. Eventually I may buy it all, having spent more money than I would have on the season pass. Which is fine, if that extra money spent gained me the security of knowing the DLCs would be worthwhile. Announcing that the DLC will be discounted if you buy it bundled in advance is nice for people like me who trust that Bethesda (specifically Bethesda, not some other generic developer) will in fact produce an adequate amount of quality content.
I still don't understand which part is so objectionable.
"We will have DLC eventually" Yeah we figured
"We don't know what it is yet" Ok, well we will eventually
"It will be cheaper through season pass" Neat
Thanks for this, I laughed and it's nice to see someone who has ventured into the real world occasionally.
I never pre-purchase games.
I pre-purchased this one. Because it is a Bethesda open world game and I know that that means quality.
So now I hear I can pre-purchase the DLC's and be cheaper off too? Great news I'd say.
And a dozen Free (cough .. withheld .. cough) DLC also. Free is good right?
I'm sad that Bethesda has stooped to making season passes. Gamers should absolutely refuse such deals because it gives companies little incentive to polish their DLCs. Same goes for pre-ordering digital titles.
That's why mods are all such low-quality junk, because modders have no incentive to polish them.
I agree that this is actually a pretty good argument.
well Bethesda announce they will make free "stuff" too, and about the lack of info about the DLC, is part of thier "non spoil" strategies, if they said what the DLC are going to be about right now, probably we can get spoilers about the main plot or part of the plot of Fallout 4, so probabbly around Dec they will give use alot more info about the Season pass and the plan DLC.
Im just saying there is no point to get mad about a announcement only.
I think the majority of modders make mods for themselves first. The fact that it's to improve their experience is all the incentive they need to polish them. And I'm sure that some use it as a way of getting their talents noticed and getting hired to work as game developers, which would be further incentive to polish their work.
i dont understand this, during E3 they said the game was done and they using this month just to make sure the game is as much polish as possible, i really dont understand what is the problem with season pass or per-ordering. Is a way for the company to star recovering money they invest. Isnt bad or anything. U arent force to buy it, more on game like Fallout 4 where u dont get nothing extra from per-order it.
They have enough incentive to slap a mod together, but not enough to do it well. Everybody knows that people don't make high-quality things unless they are motivated by money.
Ehhhhh.... not all mods are "low quality junk". Sure, a good % of them are. Just like lots of fanfiction is crap, plenty of TV shows are crap, lots of movies are crap.....
Sturgeon's Law. 90% of everything is crap.
But that remaining 10% has some great stuff. Whether it's games, or mods, or whatever. There's wonderful, well-polished mods to be found. If you bother to take the time to wade past "I wanted to be OP, so I put a million damage sword & 500k gold in a chest outside the tutorial dungeon. And then shared the mod with you!" (one also have to stop dismissing well-made mods that just aren't your thing as "crap", too. Just because you're not interested in it's subject matter, doesn't mean it's badly made)
Oh, bull@#)%.
i think he was sarcastic about the low quality
