I've played some mods that rival Bethesda DLC, so I'd say your "rule" on this is pure bunk....not saying you may not have a point 70% of the time, but it's not an absolute fact.

I think you may be right.
It's sarcasm, though not as polished as it would be had I been paid to write it.
In the IGN article the complainant was 'one Twitter fan', that's hardly being 'under attack'.
The consensus I've seen is that Season Passes as in principle problematic
but most folk trust Bethesda to do the right thing and is no gated content.
Same here (only on steam). Honestly even the most worthless skyrim dlc was a must, just for the modding assets. *cough* Hearthfire *cough*. This time around I am betting they will do even better.
Skyrim Nexus had a really nice Heartfire addon where you had nudity scenes after getting married and anytime you wanted after. Quite peculiar scenes, I must say.
Sorry for risking stirring an open can of worms. But I plan to pre-order Fallout 4 next month, when will the season passes become available?
I'll be pre-ordering via Steam in the UK.
Thanks
Kie.
Na. Money you get now can be placed in the bank right away for interests or used for a new project right away. If they plan on making 4 DLC's for example, the last one might be released in a year or even two. Getting the money right away compensates for the lower price so it's the same for them.
They haven't given a date yet.
This is true - if you ever take a class in economics you'll find that money now is worth more than money later. I was terrible at economics though so I don't recall the exact terminology or formula.
So, wait, gamers are blowing something minor out of proportion and I'm supposed to be surprised? That twitter conversation went exactly as it should have. I don't know how you got "Bethesda under attack from gamers".
And if we're arguing about when Bethesda should have announced the Season Pass, it's still not worth getting outraged over. They were talking about it in a blog post about all of their post-launch plans, including patches, and mods. If they already knew they were going to do DLC, figured they'd offer at least $40 worth of Bethesda-quality content (take that as you will), and that they were going to offer a season pass (these things are decided months in advance), why should they leave that out of a blog post specifically about post-launch plans?
No not all of them. I have some Skyrim mods from Nexus that make that game look pretty darn good. And I love SKYUI.
But clearly specified it would consist of two expansions. Where as Fallout 4's season pass is asking for $30 and when asked what it will consist of, Bethesda just shrugs. Rather different situations in how both handled their season pass. No one is asking for detailed specifics of what the DLC is going to be exactly, but specification of what one can expect would be nice. Gears of War 3 specified it would be map packs, The Witcher 3 specified expansions, so on and so forth.
However, I'm not saying its necessary all that bad in this situation. I've never been bothered with the idea of a season pass. I'd say most people have an issue with season passes because they get the idea that a developer is already working on content before the game is even released, thus people start thinking they're just holding back content from the original game to make people pay more for supposed DLC. That is mostly the case anyway. I find it hard to believe that is the case here with Bethesda, because its unlikely giant concepts such as Shivering Isles or Dragonborn were planned to be in the original game.
Regardless, consumers should be able to determine for themselves whether they want to take the risk of investing in unknown content. If you trust the developer well enough, do it. If you do not want to take that risk or don't trust the developer, don't. Quite simple.
Sarcasm does not always translate very well on a forum post....especially one with quite a few posters that exhibit widely diverse intelligence.
they arent asking for anything, since u cant buy it yet, we actually dont know the final price of the season pass.
My point is why get all angry and mad right now, when what they said was that they will make a season pass maybe cost 30$ but still dont know what will be there.
When they actually release more info about it, that my guess will be Dec, and they inform us more about we can speak about it, right now they just inform (probably they shouldn't have do it) about the season pass that all and a possible price.
"Bethesda is under attack!" Reports a CNN journalist today. The company received a second box full of bottle caps, but to the dismay of the software developer team, a sensor module and a cherry bomb also lied at the bottom. The box exploded in a shower of metal, scratching various chairs and a two computer screens. No one was harmed in the process.
I expect to get at least 400+ hours out of FO4, which is over ten times what I get out of most games. So I'm more than happy to buy a Season Pass to get all the DLC in order to have the fullest experience possible. Whether that makes me a dupe or not, I don't rightly care. I'll be too busy enjoying the game to worry about the additional $30. Based purely on the money-to-hour ratio, the base game is already worth it, even if the DLC turns out to be subpar (which I'm sure it won't be).
I've got no problem with it, but I won't be copping it myself. Unless I know exactly what I'm getting I don't invest in season passes. I did for the Witcher 3 because they promised two expansions for $25 and I believe them. I know Beth is liable to throw in at least two big expacs but I'd rather get them one at a time in case a couple of DLCs end up being 'horse armor' or 'weapon packs'.
More like
BGS: We are going to do a season pass, which means we will be doing DLC.
People: But the games not even out yet.
BGS: Well we were obviously going to be doing DLC. We just haven't decided what it is yet.

Actually, in all likelihood, BGS is already working on the DLC. The artists, level designers, weapon designers, character designers, non-QA programmers, etc. all have to be working on something while the QA department is busy bugfixing the base game.
