BIG BETHESDA TWEES DLC AND SURVIVAL MODE TOTAL REVAMP

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2016 3:47 pm

Hahaha indeed. But now that Beth announced it, the same bunch of people suddenly endorse it. Why am I not surprised :)

Anyway, petty squabblings aside, it is great news that they decided to make a proper survival mode for fallout! Cheers to them!

Diseases were more and more forgettable with each progressive Elder Scrolls game. In Daggerfall, you really could end up dead from diseases - they'd progressively lower your attributes until one of them hit zero, then you're kaput. In Skyrim you'd barely notice you had a disease.

I agree they should get progressively worse in stages - and hey, they could tie in disease resistance with Endurance and make perks like Lead Belly more useful! Don't think it would be too big a deal for saving, though, as long as you get a fair enough warning (having severely reduced stats should be an obvious sign) and ample time to try and find treatment.

And I doubt this was a sign that they should have delayed the game.

If they make enemies not bullet sponges in survival and instead make it actual survival I'll be in love.

All things considered, it certainly feels that way. Guess you could say "better late than never", but... Can't tell if this sort of late revamping really leads to anywhere good or bad with what all's involved (for example balancing all the new stuff with how the game is balanced to work now - loot, perks, stats, etc. Smells a bit like scrambled eggs, but who knows...).

it sounds like it will be an update that changes Survival mode. not a DLC for it.

If people don`t like bullet sponge enemies...

I think it`s essential New survival mode implement some kind of HP cap for not only enemies but also the players character.

As far as I am concerned.. the main character is the ultimate bullet sponge in this game..

Ooh, ooh, and when are they going to reveal the DLC they're talking about? If they're offering a survival overhaul with a patch, then they must have a story DLC up their sleeve.

Great thing we read it on the games forum... wait, we didn't.

We had to wait for someone who picks it up on a sh*tty social platform.

It's like waiting for infos about this game published on the worst newspaper instead of where it belongs.

Being able to craft a cure would be good. As long as it's not involving some super rare ingredient and you're being infected by every third enemy you encounter.

That would just be incredibly annoying.

Ideally, they'd give us a kind of difficulty checklist so we could customize it a bit. So if you prefer survival mode without having to sleep, you just uncheck the sleep need or something.

EDIT:

This news does bring up a dilemma though. I just started a survival difficulty playthough. Now with this news, do I continue with it or wait for the changes?

I hope this means the creation kit is going to be revealed as well as there wasn't any mention in the tweets.

I make up for the ease of getting stimpaks by wearing very little armor. My character is a little wisp of a girl, she wouldn't be wearing combat armor. So I have a ballistic weaved Atom Cats outfit and a couple of synth leg pieces that add SPECIAL, and that's it. So I burn through a lot of stimpaks.

Social media platforms are more ubiquitous. There's like 3 million people fallowing FO on FB alone who will get this msg, and under 400,000 registered members here, for all games, with only small percentage of those people active in any capacity on the forums.

They got the word out. They know how stuff "goes viral" and word gets around. Knowing that within minutes of a social media post, there will be 5 threads to discuss it, do they really need to post here, in a sticky saying "we don't really have any actual info to give out, but hi" ?

There aren't any details to spill. The less formal social media platforms make sense to me in this light.

Figure this. People who are here are actively taking an interest in F4- information will be shared.

Some of the pople on social media? They may not even be playing F4 right now. So they get a reminder- something to draw attention back to F4 (and perhaps make some sales through people that were holding out for features like HC mode?).

Once they have something official as far as details, they will post here and on bethnet.

Bethnet, BTW is going to be hosting the forums soon. So this board may not even be here by the time they have any official details to give.

For some reason this announcement has got me excited about Fallout 4.

It's even given me excitement and hope that Bethesda Game Studios will possibly decide to get rid of the dialogue wheel in a patch sometime before 2016 ends. And maybe even get rid of immortal NPC's and having them ALL be killable in every difficulty settings.

It's a step forward to give Fallout 4 real life realistic needs to survive in a Survival Mode.

Already in Survival you will get poisoned faster than you can heal (at least on a END 3 char with no perks). I always die to the bugs best to run away if you are not able to one-shot the swarm in VATS.

Ho yeah, poison damage is a monster. At that point I usually pump a ton of food or Stimpaks at once to increase the amount healed each second... a Refreshing Beverage and a Quantum taken at the same time is nuts.

Actually it makes more sense to release hardcoe features with DLC. The ones that will blow thru and 'finish' the game in the first month are not the extended play types that are looking for something new and different to prolong the game across more characters after several months of trying the vanilla game. The majority of players that they made their money from likely got only a buck an hour gameplay or ever worse. So you should be happy they released it 'unfinished' for you to 'finish' years after those other players already left! It means the features will be more tuned for you than the quick finishers.
