Well. I don't think it needs to be to that extreme- posting bits and the like.

I understand some may not have social media. But, as this thread shows- what's posted on social media still makes the rounds and people are informed.

We do that work for them, here.

Yeah, they weren't going to delay the game for six months to flesh out an optional difficulty setting. The game was complete when they released it - DLC and updates don't change that.

I don't remember anyone saying it would be too expensive. I used hardcoe mode in New Vegas, though I made my companions essential. I argued against a hardcoe "mode" in Fallout 4, instead wanting individually selectable hardcoe features. For example, I wanted the medical supply rarity and more severe crippling, but I didn't want my companions to have to be killable in order to get those features. Lumping them all together into a mode rather than letting you pick and choose which hardcoe features you wanted was what I opposed.

Now, I did oppose a needs system for Skyrim because I thought it was pointless to require food and drinking in a land where you couldn't walk ten feet without tripping over a deer or splashing across a clean water stream.

While I doubt they will let us choose individual survival features in this game, I definitely hope they don't tie them all to the survival difficulty. As we don't know when the GECK will finally be out, it might be a while before the modding community can do it's FWE/Project Nevada style overhauls and allow me to tailor my game as I see fit.

Ehh.. We would have modded it in anyways, I wish they would work on things that modders can't feasibly do well.

Good news for consoles and people who don't use mods though I guess.

It would be much more sensical to give us an option like New vegas separate from difficulty. Although again easy to mod.

Well, if the dlc bring something for everyone (not only for players on survival mode), there will be no arguing.

?Cheers,

I'm glad players are getting what they want but personally I never used survival mode in NV. I was too used to playing it the old FO3 way. So while I am glad its returning for those that want it, I do hope it isn't a central theme for DLC, would much prefer it in a free content patch which really it should be anyway.

I doubt the changes to survival will be part of a DLC. They were mentioned in a separate tweet and will probably be added in an update patch.

Yeah the Survival Mode update was said separate.

A new gamemode should always be added for FREE in a patch.

I am both happy and sad from this news.

Happy we are getting DLC.

Sad that BEthesda wasted and and resources for the worst, and most unbalanceable features possible, hardcoe mode. We can only hope it isnt as much of a colossal train wreck as NV's was.

Too many obsidian fans kept crying about it on the forums. And I am sure they will keep complaining about it after it's implemented for not being an exact copy of NV HM, I hope it's different enough to make it worth adding it.

It's nothing. Once you understand how it works it impacts you hardly at all. I have no idea why so many rattle on about it.

I really hope the audio returns, ala stomach grumbles, coughing and sighing to indicate hunger thirst or sickness.

I also hope the general consequence (easily crippled limbs, reduced sprint speed, reduced AP points for all actions, dramatic increase in weapon sway) are actually something to get worried about for letting your needs go unattended.

lol we all know, as soon as the new Suvival mode is out, they will compare it to NV, and some ppl will complain. Alot of ppl will never be happy with Fo4 is the way it work.

Wasn't the sound effects from Project Nevada? Did you use that mod?

Ha, yeah it probably was. Still, it'd be swell if Bethesda included it themselves.

I hope it increases enemy hp by 100x so I don't instantly kill them with my 15k damage super sledge crits.
