Changes seem pretty dramatic from what we've heard.

The Creation Engine is new. From the Gameplay Trailer the graphics look amazing (except for the water rapids). All the graphics are from a Xbox 360 (which is suprising).

Lol, have you ever played on a 360? Skyrim's graphics are nothing for the 360. It's going to handle BF3....

Seem to be a lot of naive people on these boards.. Of course it won't be as big as the jump from Morrowind to Oblivion. We're still stuck using the 360's hardware, whereas Morrowind to Oblivion was an entire generation. There'll be a small jump, but not much more than that, the 360 simply can't handle it, and this game is primarily aimed there.

You're right, there are a lot of naive people here. Again, the 360 isn't restricted by the hardware....most game devleopers, including DICE, Bethesda, and Bioware have acknowledged that the 360 has untapped potential. It's not close to being maxed out yet. There are a lot of resctrictions it has compared to $2000 gaming PCs, but that's not surprising....

I'm going to have to say that with a brand new engine, the change will be far greater than MW -> OB.

You know, if the difference between Morrowind and Oblivion would only be the graphics, there wouldn't be as much people complaining about it. What about the combat, or AI?

Skyrim will be like, if not bigger, just as big change than Morrowind-Oblivion was, just by the changes we already know, like the new skill system, the new magic system or the dragonshouts.

Morrowind and oblivion had a console generation gap. That being said,i can see much improvement graphically. It really is impressive what they have done with xbox/consoles,considering whats inside them, and to say otherwise is (in my opinion ) dumb. I like how bethesda re-think and take a new approach to their games,it refreshing, and in my opinion needed. Skyrim will have it's own flavour and ideas, but thats not to say things from previous games won't appear, art and ideas wise. They got the attention that they wanted from oblivion. Now they have achieved that, they can now please both older and newer fans. I mean, to have a team spend two years working on dragons shows how much the series means to them, and shows are serious they are about making great games and pushing the boundries, each and everytime. They are re-working alot of things, from engine, graphics, animations, new things to do....allsorts of stuff....they do listen, whilst at the same time deciding themselves whats best and what isn't.

I think skyrim will be great game, and will sell buy the bucket load.Of that i have no doubt. The graphics and art this time around look more, rustic, gritty, real, rather than oil painty or cartoonish, and i can see an improvement, and considering it's on the same console...well,it's impressive to me. I personally, think some PC users are shocked at what bethesda as done regarding the graphics on the 360. I still watch the trailer now,and it brings a great smile to my face.If it looks like that, and plays smooth....whats to complain about,it's more than acceptable in my eyes. :)
All these changes are for the better,i'm just glad bethesda doesn't pump the elder scrolls out year upon year. Hell...i'm still excited and grateful to hear we are getting another elder scrolls game.
We have way more information to get yet,and what we've heard so far is mouth-watering to me already. Lets appreciate the time, effort and direction bethesda is going with skyrim,i'm sure they know what they are doing. They'll get better each time. And while there is such a vast/huge audience out there, they'll not please everyone.....It's impossible, given the numbers.

Just be happy with what we've seen and what they are doing,we can't change it,just accept it and enjoy it....it's that simple :)

In reality what makes or breaks skyrim for me is the combat/stealth/magic system and so far it seems to be a VAST improvement over OB and MW system.

if its broke then the game will be broke no matter how well everything else is.

I think the biggest improvements will be artistic in nature, as in the hired better artists. Better optimizing the engine will allow them to pull more power out of the old hardware, but not enough to make any major advances.

I think the biggest improvements will be in the animation system. That will change the visuals, the combat mechanics - and nearly everything else - for the better.

But of course you are right too ;)

Morrowind ---> Oblivion = major graphical change
Oblivion ----> Skyrim = major gameplay change

I think this is the case too...

the graphics will probably not be as huge improvement as from morrowind > oblivion... unless they add Dx11 for PC ofcourse

Gameplay will probably be the greatest aspect of the game
