Big Huge Arm

Post » Sun Jan 16, 2011 5:39 pm

Ive seen threads about body types and threads about GI but not this specifically…

So as we’ve all seen (even though I still havent got mine), the screens from GI featured a particularly large muscular arm.

I have a hard time imagining a Bosmer or a Breton with an arm like that, but a big'ol Nord would make sense.

Do you think that this could be an indication of deferent/racial body types being available?

Speculate...

I've heard people say we'll be able to edit the PC's body, but I don't know where this information came from, because it's not in GI (unless I missed it).

There will be an option to change your body type, it onnly makes sense to limit which types are available to which races.

They are replacing skooma with steroids. You'll get huge arms by level 3.

Didn’t see the Dunmer arm.

Selectable/racial body types would be cool so long as its not a Fable-ish, strong characters look like pro wrestlers thing. Thats not cool.

So if this whole "body morph" option is true Im guessing

Nord Orcs and Redguards- Average to Hyper Muscular build

Imperial Bretons and Argonians- Average to Muscular build.

Elven races- Light to Average build?

Was it a Dunmer or Orc? Because the arm I'm thinking of was "toned," but not bulky like the Nord one. If it's a Dunmer, then yes bodies are different by race.

If it's an Orc arm, there must be a slider because I would imagine them having at least the second biggest biceps. I hope there are limits though, at least in NPCs, so we don't see as many 'roided out Bosmer as we do Nords.

I hope we don't see old men with six packs again. I hope the body types between races are more distinct then Oblivion.

No, all bodies in Oblivion are physically identical except for scale and weight. Orcs were taller and wider, but couldn't be muscular while Bosmer were slim.

There were ways around it by modding, but by default only the scale and weight were adjustable.

Meh, soooort of. A Nords was a little taller then, say, a Bosmer, but that’s about it.

BAM! Well alright then.

So we know one body customization. We can choose if our guy is gonna be thin or fit.

Now what about fat? I wouldn't mind having a fat guy run around slaying dragons.

Ah, I remember reading that but I didn't really notice the part about bodies. Seems like something they should have put in the main text, really.

In any case, :celebration:

Please let there be fat body types, or at least really stocky.

I would think it'd be based off of a slider system like Oblivion. So options like "Fat/Thin" then have a slider one way or the other. Then "Muscular/Scrawny" and "Tall/Short" and any thing that could be put on that sort of opposites sliding system

I concur, Sandman.

I picture Alga as a bulky warrior. She's fat. Not obese, just chubby.

Please let there be people of different body types. I don't want to make an old Redguard man, only to find out he has the abs of a 20-year-old man.

Not exactly good logic, there. A less bulky Dunmer doesn't automatically rule out body sliders. I also don't get why everyone is of the opinion that TES elves have to be all slender or can't get bulky.

Also, differnt body types for races hardly sounds like "fully customizable"

My only gripe is the fact that Nordic women are taller than Redguard and Imperial men? Yeah... ok

Beth needs to fix this since Noirds will be everywhere in this game. Along with the body types

I'm afraid that that image is a concept shot. I hope it's not, but it might be.

There is only one piece of concept art in the GI mag, the dragon attacking the city on fire. Everything else is a screen.

Doesn't rule it out, no. But it doesn't make a good case for body sliders if every Race shown follows only exactly what the lore stereotypes them as. And it's not our "opinion" it's just the history of the game has shown that Orcs/Nords tall bulky, Wood Elves short and slender, and Everybody else in between. Then you have generalized fantasy versions of elves, who are almost always slender, occasionally tall, and then you have folkloric elves who are really interchangable with dwarves, fairies, etc, being diminutive to the point of hiding under mushrooms etc.

I would guess that there would be preset body types as opposed to a slider.

If there were height and weight sliders, the clothing and armor would have to fit over thousands of potential body types without clipping.

I hope they’ve got past that but I wouldn’t bet on it just yet.
