It is a long post but its mainly just topics, so its easy to read! =)
So, we have seen almost all the zones in Tamriel, except for Elsweyr, Valen, Black Marsh or summerset. But I think we really shouldnt go into those areas, because if you actually google about them, you will find that they are really not that interesting in a players point of view. Valenwood is a massive forest, black marsh is a huge swamp, the only region that would be interesting would be summerset but that is too small.
Cyrodill, Skyrim, High rock and hammerfell on the other hand are regions with varied landscapes. Thats why I think we should return there, in particular to High rock/Orsinium/Hammerfell.
This game would take place a few eras in the future, to allow for a brand new page in the lore.
The industrial revolution has come to Tamriel, steam power! And the tension between the old ways of magic and the new ways of technology is growing.
The cities have grown, but due to the advance of technology, there isnt enough jobs for everyone, thus the overall life quality has decreased. While the cities now shine with the glorious income of technology, they also have a darker side, filled with beggers, homeless people and riots.
Horse carriages and sail boats are still around, but are beeing quickly replaced by steam boats and trains.
Magic universities are competing against technological universities.
The imperial legions have been replaced by the imperial Army, now consisting of a mix of melee saber fighters and long range musketeers.
For the first time in the elder scrolls series, single shot pistols and muskets would come into play, in a sort of steam punk scenery, where magic and science collide and strive to live togheter.
Plot: After the Industrial Revolution, the tension between the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion rose to new heights. The imperials embraced technology while the High elves consider it to be an heresy. The imperials have been reinforced by the armies of skyrim, after the fall of emperor titus mede and the rise of XXXX, the Imperials rose to their feet and re lighted the war against the dominion, Skyrim was happy to rejoin the alliance.
However this war isnt the only threat in the horizon, deep in the darkness, using the conflict as cover, a dark entity is seeking to create something so powerfull, that even the might of magic and technology combined wont be enough to stop it.
OVERALL FEATURES.
3 regions to explore: High rock (orsinium included), western cyrodill and Hammerfell.
New races: Half races (Half orcs: offspring of human and orc, Half elves: Offspring of humans and elves, and so on.)
New playstyle: We have seen the path of shadows, the path of the warrior and the path of magic. This game will introduce the path of Science. The skills would be: Engineering (creation of gadgets that would help the character in battle and outside of it, steam grenades, mines, lock explosives, wather breathing apparatuses, metal detectors and various guns). Guns (both single shot pistols and muskets). Medicine (Ability to heal broken limbs through surgery and to cure diseases through the creation of pills and medicines). Mechanic (Ability to create and maintain technological companions (dwarven spheres, spiders, centurions, etc) and a few more.
Big Cities: Taking advantage of the new generation consoles, the cities in this game would be huge, with poor areas, rich areas, trade areas and leisure areas (parks), no more empty cities with half a dozen citizens that are all essential. The cities would have a huge population, of essential and "trash" npcs. Trash npcs would have basic interactions with you, they are killable, but the game will replace them with others in a few in game months. All the npcs would have schedules, works and ocupations, all npcs would have to eat and sleep (no more npcs standing in one spot for years), Children would go to school during the day, parents would work, at night we could see the husband at the pub while the wife cooks and the kids play on the streets.
Enforced Logic: No more unlocked doors during day time, that was ridiculous, why should I wait for nighttime to rob someone when I can just walk on in during day time, toggle sneak and steal everything while the owner is sitting in a corner. NO! In this game all doors would be locked, and if you need to go in, you have to either lockpick or knock on the door, if any npc is home he will cancell his current task and attend the door. The npcs would follow you around the house if they dont know you and will escort you out, making sure you didnt take anything.
You have to sleep, eat and drink in this game, in order to avoid diseases and stamina penalties. And we should have an animation for those, like sitting and ordering food, or eating an apple while walking around.
No more potion chugging while in battle, the inventory shouldnt stop the game, this would make planning and execution before battles a crucial thing.Keep your utensils at hand, or you will get killed.
Location damage: If you fall from a great height, you might break a leg, or an arm, if a bullet or arrow hits you, it will leave a wound that needs to be treated. Diseases now take time to pass after you drink a potion or take a pill. Going out into the wilds while recovering from a sickness might cause it to reappear.
More logical factions: No more "oh, you brought me a bread, lets make you master of the guild!" or "oh look, its a warrior with no magical aptitude! lets make him arch mage!" Factions now require that you identify with them in order to advance through their ranks.
MAGIC: Magic needs a massive overall!
- The magic university would be a huge campus, filled with students. (Kind of like hogwarts), you actually had to attend classes in the beginning to learn new spells, encantations, potion recipes and ways to fend off certain creatures using magic. Classes would take like 2 or 3 minutes and the Teacher NPC would say a few important things that you had to remember in the end when he delivers you the class quiz. Getting good grades will cause you to advance in rank and eventually start doing quests for the teachers.
Magic would be far more dificult to grasp, it would take high inteligence to mix different spells into creating a new one, tips for making new spells would be scattered all across books and tomes that you had to read, for example, holding fireball in one hand for 2 seconds and then holding whirlwind in the other for 3 seconds would create a fire whirlwind. Thousands of combinations would be possible, some of them obvious, others not so much. Rare books might teach you awesome and deadly spells that take a lot of practice to master both outside and during battle.
Travel: Travel would need a massive overall as well. We should keep fast travel because travelling manually to every location might be too much for the hardcoe legions, we would introduce boat, train and carriage travels. You actually sith in the carriage or train during the travel and can walk freely on the boat (might be a quest or 2 in the boat!) during the travel your transportation could be raided by bandits or pirates.
More tasks!: Allow us to to do a large variety of works! Farming, fishing, gambling, bawling in tournaments, hunting, bounty hunting, cooking, writting books, open stores, have our own ship that we could sail on and hire a crew, herding cows and sheeps, theres so many possibilities!
MORE FACTIONS!: This cant be stressed enough, but this game would be crawling with factions! Some more important than others. Fighters guild, Magic guild, Thieves guild, Neo Dark brotherhood, Templars (heretic hunters), political factions, merchants guild, sailors guild, pirates, bandits, science guild, Blades, Imperial Legion, knight guilds, daedra guilds, etc etc
Arena returns: Yes, the arena returns and better than before! With a larger variety of matches. Deathmatch, team deathmatch, gauntlet. You would have an arena rank with other npcs, just like a tournament. You would be able to recruit npcs for your arena team from other teams or from the cities. There would be special arena tournaments in some months, during wich, the arena grounds would be crawling with people, singing and chanting!
Monthly festivities: Each month there should be some sort of festival, where the streets would become all lit up at night, with people singing and dancing.
Chaos engine!: This would be something that had to be toggled before starting the game because it might be too hard for some players. It consists of removing all essential status from npcs. If he accidentally dies, you have to live with it, the quest will fail, or it will go on a different way. It might end up rending your quest unfinishable, but hey... it's life! reload and try again!
More weapons: Fist weapons (brass knuckles, claws), daggers, short swords, long swords (sabres, rapiers, broadswords, katanas) Bows, crossbows, throwing weapons (throwing knives, darts, stars grenades), blowpipes (for stealth), Pistols, muskets, mines, spears, halberds, morning stars, flails, 2 handed weapons.
More armor!: Go wild! Add lots of different armor styles!
MORE ARMOR SLOTS: boots, legs, belt, top, shoulders, cloak, face, eyes, hat, helm. (If its a full helm then face, eyes and hat slots would become unusable.)
Add more varied random quests.
Add more radial quests.
More companions! And allow us to travel with at least 2! Also it would be cool to improve our interactions with them. Talking about how he feels about us, if he agrees with our actions or not, giving them gifts to improve their loyalty and battle prowess through motivation. That we way, if a companion dies, we would be so attached that it actually makes us sad, I would literally drag his corpse into a beautifull place, lay his weapons on top of him, and mourn for a while! =P
I could go on forever but this post is getting too long XD
Please comment, leave ideas and tell me why you disapprove or approve =) and help me create a decent plot if you want ^^
