So today, I was just romping around the Commonwealth, and decided to head to Lexington. I explored the Corvega plant a bit and decided to head into town. Rounded the corner leading to the plaza and came face to face, with a Super Mutant Behemoth. Now my first reaction was "Holy crap!". My second reaction was to immediately relocate to a safer spot. Thankfully, Lexington, gave me an advantage in higher elevation. I got up to the catwalk where the Power Armored Raider with the Fatman is normally found, and with Piper backing me up, we lined up the Behemoth, and laid him out.

Now, my question is this: Is this a normal spawn point, now that I'm lvl 35, or is this just a random spawn?

I remember when I used to fast travel the game spawned me right next to it once.

it gave me a hell of a fright when it stamped it's foot as i materialised.

no its not random. Each time I went loitering in Lexington, Mr Behemoth is always there , alongwith raiders on a viaduct above + the usual loony zombies.

I about [censored] the first time I went through an area I was familiar with and ran into a Behemoth. I was on high alert after that!!

You will encounter quite a few big monsters in fixed locations once you reach a certain level.

I remember the first time I ran into one of these, blurting out "What the **** is THAT!?!?" and startling my husband. I'm generally pretty laid back, rarely indulging in gamer rage.

Yeah, every time I feel like picking a fight with a Behemoth, I make my way to Lexington. Plus I can pickup a Fatman for sale and a mini nuke or two to add to my collection. There are generally a good amount of useful junk in Lexington / Corvega like the Mr. Handy Fuel and Aluminum Caps. If you are a sneaky little thief, then you can pilfer the Fusion Core from the two raiders that wear Power Armor.

First time I encountered this spawn point I was exiting the SDM. In the midst of my panic and then entering my 'all or nothing' glory mode, I didn't hear the faint whistle of a mini nuke fired from the catwalk.

As the flash faded I saw the Behemoth coming at me. Both legs crippled. Head crippled. Right arm cripple. Around 10% health.
