Bigfoot: Fact or Fiction?

Post » Mon Jan 13, 2014 4:22 am

After a lot of research on this subject I believe that it is very possible that this species does exist. I'm not saying they do, I'm just saying it's possible. Your thoughts??

Not enough data to determine at this point.

Until/unless they find irrefutable evidence bigfoot exists, I'm calling it fictional.

Yea they need an actual body and that's the only way. The problem is that many enthusiasts are against the idea of killing one even if it is in the name of science.

Capturing one alive would do the trick pretty nicely, too, I would imagine.

Fiction.

Although I laughed so hard when I seen on the Discovery Channel : Catching Bigfoot.

On another thing, I don't even watch Discovery Channel it's a husk of it's former glory.

I imagine tranquilizer guns would work pretty well, after all, how did we wind up with those wild animals in the zoos. Surely they all weren't born there.

In America? No.

In South-East Asia? I wouldn't be surprised.

Fiction, at least in America, in Asia? Maybe slim but maybe

You know, publishing this lot of research on a scientific journal could go a great length to prove whether it exists or not. It could get other researchers with more resources and formation to seriously consider dedicating more resources to finding it, based on that research.

Or maybe not. Because, you know, if no researcher among the countless brilliant researchers of our era, with the vast formation and access to information of our era, has proved its existence until now, chances are it probably doesn't exist.

You could wedge the 'conspiracy theory' card into that, but you know, Occam's Razor and all that...

Or you could argue that I'm too positivist for my own good, and you would probably be right.

Oh sure they exist. They're called grizzly bears though (populations used to exist in Oregon/Washington before being driven out).

Fiction. All the research done has yielded nothing. No live samples, no tissue samples, no scat samples, no solid photographic evidence, and no remains of their presence outside of some silly footprints that can easily be (and most often are confirmed to be) hoaxes.

What exactly -is- a "bigfoot"?

A man-like creature, covered with fur that stalks the winter?

A creature of an unknown animal species that we haven't yet found or seen?

I call it fiction either way, because it's too great a story not to tell: But there's no evidence supporting it, thus I cannot take it seriously.

I can't believe they have a reality show on the whole fiasco where the cameraman watches fools scurry about the woods for nothing and react with "WHAT WAS THAT?!" when they hear a noise. Has to be bigfoot! No such thing as other animals in the woods.

That was freaking hilarious, but yeah that's pretty much what all of these superstition reality shows do.

Impossible. To have a thriving population you need a substantial number of animals which means physical evidence would be a forgone conclusion by now - scat, remains, etc would be found on a regular basis. The stronger argument is apes did not evolve to live in cold northern climates with sparse vegetation. No way does the pacific northwest have the type of plant matter to sustain an 800 lb ape. Makes for great stories though.

I believe bigfoot is either some sort of mutation of already existing species we are currently aware of, or fiction until proven other wise.

Its not impossible, certainly. There's been quite a few http://listverse.com/2010/04/16/10-beasts-that-used-to-be-mythical/which were thought to be "myths" that turned out to be real.

However, each passing year that no concrete evidence of a large species of North American ape is found, it becomes more and more unlikely. Especially with all the people attempting to find it. Lack of physical evidence or remains and the numbers that would be needed to sustain a viable population means that things don't look good for the species existence.

What's going on(or what happened with) that guy who just like a week or two ago announced that he was going to unveil the body of a Bigfoot that he killed and had stuffed? He was setting up a huge press conference and everything, claimed he had sent off samples of the body to various science labs across the country and what not.

I was laughing my butt off, have little to no doubt it's all a hoax and he's going to show off something he stitched together himself in the approximation of a Bigfoot.
