Bigger better boss fights?

Post » Tue Apr 06, 2010 11:11 pm

As I recall from previous TES games, boss fights have mostly been against NPCs and I can only remember a few truly epic fights.

I'd simply like to see more variety in the being that we fights and have more boss fights on the level that they are actually 'boss' title worthy. I know dragons are a big one, but with so many im not sure they will feel like you're fighting a boss. Not to mention dragons are only one kind, I would like to see other creatures as well.

I've thought this before and only recently saw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fI-WvgNOCls that sparked the idea again. Any thoughts on this?

edit - it would appear i am the only one

You know, Dragon age size boss fights would be awesome. What I mean is those battles took a long time to finish, and it wasn't just the one boss but their minions as well. That would be VERY fun

I bet mountain giants will be like boss fights too. probably like fighting the gate keeper in shivering isles or behemoths in fallout 3 but with (hopefully) better combat animations and AI.

The Mehrunes Dagon fight was an immortal classic

I do not know how Skyrim can top that clash of worlds

I have a feeling mountain giants will be just like ogres in OB : /

Thats good to see, I really hope we see something like that!! Umbra was one of those epic fights I was talking about, even if its just an NPC it was crazy strong and fun to have such a challenge.

Agree. You don't need to face Umbra, but the challenge is still there for those that want to test their strength.

It would be cool for some real epic boss intros and fights, like a conjurer grabs a magic amulet and it turns him into this big, snarling half-dragon that smashes his ex-friends against the walls and then turns his sights onto you, or a real nasty looking daedra appears out of a summoning circle and the summoners are turned to ash, or this huge bandit with half his face is ground off jumps down, kills a whole bottle of mead in front of you and grabs a huge battle axe to try and cleave you in two, or you have a group of guys with you and an assassin jumps from a vantage point, throws a bunch of kuni at your companions and disappears before your friends lifeless bodies hit the floor. You know, stuph like that...

If there are any cutscenes I want it to be handled in the good ol' Half Life sense: still in first person, everything happening from your perspective, with only occasionally you losing control of your character

I'm thinking mammoths will be boss fights, with the giants too. There are also different types of dragons and that will give some variety hopefully.

I was playing on standard difficulty with heavy armor with resist/absorb magic enchants and a sword with just a silence enchant, the whole time going "lol, Mannimarco"

They've already confirmed that some larger dungeons will have big nasty baddies guarding the treasure haul at the end. The one they demoed for their press event last month featured a giant frost spider guarding the dragon runes, for instance.

And of course the dragon fights will be like boss fights unto themselves.

Ogres never carried weapons though, and we know that atleast some giants do.
