18 keeps per Campaign x 10 Campaigns = 180 guilds get to have "AH", the rest DON'T.
Absolute B.S.
In any game I played I very rarely ever used the AH. I'll go out and find whatever I need instead of paying artificially inflated prices to line the pockets of AH trolls. Not having an AH doesn't bother me one bit.
qft
I would farm all my mats to make things myself for free, np. No matter how old the content.
If a player leaves the game because there is no AH then good riddance if you ask me. It could be the last drup but then it already wasnt a game for you.
180 guild x 5 and i bet this is so you get less guilds but each one is larger, making them better suited for pvp or big trading.
Realy, zenimax is not stupid, far from it.
I'd have to agree. If the Auction House is the primary purpose for you playing this game, or at least enough of an issue to turn away from the game, then maybe games that are more economically centered is for you.
After 30 years of gaming, I should think I know what types of games I like by now. But thanks for your concern.
This is an interesting system. I'm somewhat excited for it.
I wonder how it will affect the economy to not have it completely centralized.
It's not like you need an AH in order to buy/sell goods.
I'm very excited to try this system out.
The auction house itself doesn't give me incentive either way, since I rarely use it, however, the HUGE increase in the volume of spam (and scams) that comes in the place of having an Auction House can very well be a deterrent to many people. I know I hate it, with a passion, when the general zone chats are filled LFG and WTB/WTS chat spam.
I've played just about every MMO since EQ launched in 1999, I know exactly what chat looks like in games with AH and games without.
Same goes for LFG tool, to a lesser extent.
Wait, if only 180 guilds can have an AH, that means that only 90,000 people can sell items in the AH out of millions?
180 guilds x 500 per guild = 90,000
Wow, I really hope im wrong here.... You can still run around to each keep and use their AH, but you have to be a member to list items right?
Edited for clarity.
Guess you're going to have to storm a keep so that you can sell that mega briastplate you made.
Well thats not encouraging for someone who doesnt really give a crap about Cyrodiil.
This seems like a giant kick in the nuts, especially to PvE only players
You can access the guild store system, just by being in guilds. You don't have to go to Cyrodiil to a guild claimed keep to access the guild stores, its just one way to do so.
So to summarize for those that are confused by others fear mongering, there are two ways to access the system.
1. Be in a guild up to 5 total that has a guild store and can sell and buy from them
2. Go to a Guild claimed Keep or resource in Cyrodiil.Yes Resources can be claimed and have a vendor as well so that "18" number is way off, its more like 72. If 18 Keeps with 3 resource per keep thats 4 stores per Keep.
But again you don't even have to use the one in Cyrodiil, you can simply join guilds that have stores.
Like I just posted above your math is wrong. Resources can be claimed as well and will have a store. Each keep has three resources. So thats 4 stores per Keep area.
So its, 72 Stores per Campaign x 10 Campaigns(at launch) = 720 Guild Stores possible at launch.
And as the game grows more campaigns that number grows.
So any sizable guild that meets the required minimum members can have a store?
Yep. If your guild has 50 people or more you can have a store.
Okay good. I was about to have a panic attack and scramble to find a trade guild lol.
Edit, I still dont like this system, but it is what it is.
Yeah thing is what I'll do is I have my one main guild I am in for PvE and PvP etc. Then the remaining 4 guilds will be trade based guilds.
My biggest concern for this game is that some people will never stop trying to turn it into something that it wasn't meant to be.
AH = ... selling crappy items at highly inflated prizes so as to get in game credits I really did not need in the end
because quests provided all the credits and items I needed.
Well...that is what I used AH for in SWG, WoW and SWTOR
sure... AH are nice for Crafters...yet, as a Crafter I quickly learned that most of the items I created did not
sell well. Actually..the only items that sold well where high end items that gave a real edge in PvP.
I guess that in ESO the majority of players will create their own weapons and gear since it is relative easy to do.
Still... AH adds a level to game play. It would be nice to have one...but it is not high on my list of priorities.
I agree, they will never stop. Sad but true.
AH makes me a poor man. I svck at game economies, I'm a twinker so all they do is take my money!
Thank goodness for crafting in this game. I actually liked it. a lot. And i don't like to craft.
I will buy my gear from crafters in the main cities.. there are many ways to trade without a price inflation AH
Here's an apples to oranges comparison with a game that has made some epic mistakes, but still interesting from the perspective of forcing players/limiting their options for the good of supporting a style of gameplay.
"When we initially designed and implemented the auction houses, the driving goal was to provide a convenient and secure system for trades. But as we've mentioned on different occasions, it became increasingly clear that despite the benefits of the AH system and the fact that many players around the world use it, it ultimately undermines Diablo's core game play: kill monsters to get cool loot. With that in mind, we want to let everyone know that we've decided to remove the gold and real-money auction house system from Diablo III."

Like anything else, some options have repercussions.
