Biggest disappointment in the game?

OH MY GOD I HAVE TO DOWNLOAD THAT RIGHT NOW!

Such pure, unadvlterated win.

My biggest disappointments:

1. No "[censored] it, don't care." ending, which would show you the wasteland if the courier decided to ignore the politics of the world and just spent his time at Gomorrah.

2. Very little control over Yes Man's ending. A lot of the ending slides have bad things happening that my courier would have prevented. The solution would have been pretty easy, end the game with Yes Man asking a series of questions on how the courier is going to lay down the law. Something like...

Yes Man: "So, sir, how do we deal with the kings?"

Courier option 1: "[censored] them, I want their hair gel. Send in the securitons. Leave no survivors."
Courier option 2: "Let's hire them and make them the official security force of outer Vegas. The King can be the mayor there, or something."
Courier option 3: "Make sure they know not to mess with me, or I'll be forced to wipe them out."
Courier option 4: "One of the casino families has officially pissed me off. Let's give the Kings the job of running it.
Courier option 5: "What makes you think I give a rats ass?"

Yes Man: "Great thinking sir! Next, how do you want to deal with the Omertas?"

Courier option 1: "They're fired. Wipe them all out. Be sure none of the working girls are hurt during the purge." [This option leads to the Kings taking over Gomorrah if option 2 was taken about the Kings]
Courier option 2: "Call their leaders for a meeting and kill them. Maybe the next person appointed to manage the place will know better."
Courier option 3: "Eh, they're my kind of people. Leave them alone."
Courier option 4: "Give them some time to clean their act up. The girls aren't slaves anymore. If they don't, they get a boot to the ass."

If you want to blow peoples heads off then go play an FPS instead of an RPG. It's like me being disappointed in Need For Speed because I have to drive a car. (I hate racing games.)

If you're not meant to kill a lot of things in FNV, then why is there so much emphasis on guns and other weapons?

Of course you're meant to kill things but it's an RPG first and an FPS second.

But FPS elements are still there, so people will undoubtedly play it as an FPS. Your NFS example was terrible though, NFS is nothing but racing as far as I know ( I dont play much outside RPGs)

I understand this and like playing most of the quests as they are well written, but they are so many guns and so little challenging enemies. A good portion of them don't even respawn.

The biggest disappointment for me was bethesda letting obsidian develop it. After NV its obvious there not skilled enough to handle a modern fallout. The game is just predictable and boring. The biggest let down of 2010

How so? It was far better than Fallout 3 by almost any measure.

congratulations acceptd lol. But that is my answer to the OP's question. NV was a disappointment to more people than it was a success. thats how it seems to me.

Biggest disappointment: Not looking as good as the gameplay videos I watched 100 times over waiting for this damn game to come out.

Khan shootout.
Vault 22.
Vault 34.
Vault 11.
Goodsprings cemetary.
Quarry Junction.
Come Fly With Me.
Arcade's perosnal quest.
Boomer mural.
Underwater cavern.
Final Battle.
Meeting Caesar.
Meeting House.
Killing House.
Challenging Lanius.
That Lucky Old Sun.

I found there to be tons of memorable quests, places, people and events. :)

These things were awesome. But! Did it make you feel like Fallout 3 did? What about meeting the master in Fallout? As for the Final Battle, it lasted like 10 minutes. Fallout New Vegas is my favorite but it just isnt that memorable (for me at least)

Really. Maybe you're playing the right game but lack the mindset to appreciate it. A middle schooler could play both games and like Fallout 3 more because the story is dumbed down to their level, whereas New Vegas has a story that actually assumes an intelligent audience.

My biggest disappointment with New Vegas is that there isn't more of it.

My other big disappointment is the rapidly diminishing returns on replay. Anti-intellectual it may be, but the combat challenges offer much more variety the second, third, etc times through than *yawn* telling some sniper to get her head examined. Again. It' sort of fun to fast talk your way through the game, but only once. After that, it's just a chore. With every new character, I drift farther and farther away from the 'quests'.

I'm hoping this is addressed in a future DLC; I'd love it if they just added lots of stuff to do on the main map.

I'm assuming by intelligent audience you mean a more 'mature' audience. the only things that made NV more advlt than Fallout3 were six and gambling.

Mostly it's the "half steps" they did keeping the crappy "oblivion" mechanics in while ruining the superior FO systems just enough to make them not work as they should. DT for example I was thrilled to hear was going to be implemented. I thought it was going to be a return of the much better Damage system the originals had. However nope it's universal, plus you always have 20% get through no matter how wimpy the gun or strong your armor. Then you have lots of balance issues that came about because of this. (People saying explosive are too weak, or energy weapons and so forth.)

Would have loved to see the originals system finally make it all the way in. Plus the return of the same minigames....Can't you atleast put in a system to pass it by skill?

I was disappointed that hardcoe mode didn't switch over to skill percentages, instead of skill thresholds.

not enough dirty six with the legion,

but seriously though, there were no truly memorable moments in this game, that gave me goosebumps. Nothing in this game truly affected me besides getting it and watching the opening cinematics (since there are no other cinematics in this game). The opening still gives me goosebumps, why couldn't they add a couple more of those throughout important parts of the game? :shakehead: I mean, even watching the monorail blow up, unless it happens at night it's not that great

Also, why make areas that you can't freely move around in? especially when the happiness of the faction effects your game. Like the White Glove Society, after doing their mission I'm idolized by them, but you can't go into their back rooms? :meh: silly game

and wtf? why do the vault 19 powder gangers always show up at the end? They're not important at all!

The same to you: Learn to communicate. Even if you're still in middle school (in which case you shouldn't be on these forums), the above quote is completely incomprehensible and your average sixth grader should be able to do better.

The story in New Vegas is far more intelligent than the story in Fallout 3. It's well constructed and has at least some moral depth to it. The story in Fallout 3 is so riddled with holes and facepalm moments that it's ridiculous that it got past rough draft, even if I ignore the fact that it steals from the first two games and is completely linear.

I never said the story line in Fallout 3 was better, as a matter of fact I completely ignore it because it svcks a bit too much and when it comes up I make it up. But yeah it was pretty ridiculous *cough* Liberty Prime *cough* *cough* :whistling:
