Bioware and Bethesda: Joint-venture for a series of games

Post » Wed Aug 31, 2011 3:47 am

Hey guys, I've been playing Dragon Age lately to hold me over till' Skyrim and I was thinking about how awesome both companies were.
I think they should come into a partnership and create the most epic RPG game ever. They could create a new engine from scratch that combines the best of both worlds. I know I would buy a game like that. So I want your guys' opinions. Good or no. Thanks for voting and Happy trails!

You scared me a little with this topic :D
My answer is no, don't get me wrong, I love both studios and played their games to death, but I am of the principle that mixing two positive things doesn't necessarily result in a greater positive thing.

Dragon Age is a great series on its own. The Elder Scrolls is a great series on its own. Together, they don't quite fit. Maybe they could make a great game together or maybe they would make a disaster that doesn't satisfy either fanbase. I don't see any problems with continuing on their own with their respective series, so I'd rather they stick to them and not bother making a game together. I expect different things from Dragon Age than I do from the Elder Scrolls.

Not together, i want them to draw inspiration from each other separately. TES would benefit greatly from dialogue options a la Jade Empire or Mass Effect, while Dragon Age and whatever RPGs they're doing in the future would benefit greatly from a more open and detailed world.

I'd much prefer if they stayed away from one another. I play Bioware games for different reasons than I play Bethesda games; I love them both (even if I slightly favour Bioware over Beth) as they are and don't really think they'd mesh that well. At least not well enough for me to want them to become distracted from plotting DA3 and TES VI respectively.

@ Crixus: Yeah, that makes sense to me. I agree completely but I honestly think if they would be willing to, that they could make the ultimate in a video game series, picture this:
An open world, beautiful beyond compare, you see a crying NPC in the distance: [Paragon] Do you need help? +5 Paragon
[Humor] Would you like a cookie? +2 Paragon
[Renegade] Hey! B*tch, what do you need? +5 Renegade
[Paragon] Reaction: (Sobbing) W..Would you help m..me find my s..s..son? *Quest Added: The Missing Child...*
[Humor] Reaction: (Sobbing) N..No thank you. B..But w..w..will you help me find my b..b..baby boy? *Quest Added: The Missing Child...*
[Renegade] Reaction: (Sobbing) *Slaps you*

@ Person from Anticlere: I agree about them working on their projects. But perhaps in the future, they can set aside a time where they work together...

No, I wouldn't want EA's filthy hands going near any Bethesda game. Even if EA aren't involved. If you go with Bioware, you go with everyone Bioware has ever been with, which is EA.

Plus, I am quickly losing all faith in Bioware. Mass Effect 3 better be good or so help me...
