EA BioWare Working On Dragon Age 3

Post » Tue Jul 06, 2010 12:55 pm

This should come as no surprise, but it's the first official confirmation. I'm not really sure what to think. EA BioWare definitely needs to go back to the drawing board and reboot this series though. Can't get much worse than DA2.

It will take place in one room and any characters that Bioware liked, that you killed, will be retconned in. In fact, everything is being retconned back in. If you don't like it, we'll ban your games from entering our server, then you can't play! Isn't Project $10 great?

Step 1: Make a great game.
Step 2: Make a bad game and milk it because people liked the first one.
Step 3: Make a game thats not as good as the first but better than the second one so they can hype it up as "lesson learned" and "vast improvments".

Sounds like a surefire way to make money to me! Its going to sell like hotcakes (very well).

There's no way in hell this series is now the spiritual successor series to the Baldur's Gate series and there's no way in hell I'm ever considering such a rushed piece of garbage product as the likely upcoming Dragon Age III to be the replacement for Baldur's Gate V. I actually thought Origins was pretty good, aside from a lot of technical issues and the seemingly most inefficient game engine ever to grace this console generation, but from what I've seen of II, I'm not happy, and the comments made by BioWare about sticking to II's formula and the rushed announcement of III pretty much confirms III won't be much better.

Maybe EA BioWare should take a step back for a while from this franchise. At this rate DA3 will see a release in 2012 and be even more gimped than DA2. I wouldn't be surprised to see this game be a GI cover reveal this year even.

I've honestly just lost all respect for BioWare. Shame.
At least I still have their past works (read: good works) to play.

"Looking for exceptional environment artist?" Yeah, they sure as hell could have used some.

Now if only we can get the announcement "Michael Laidlaw FIRED!" :P

Dragon Age 3 will be coming out before the end of this year or at the beginning of next year and will be the first to fall into their new yearly release strategy, similar to what Call of Duty has been doing. Mark my words!

It will take place in one room and any characters that Bioware liked, that you killed, will be retconned in. In fact, everything is being retconned back in. If you don't like it, we'll ban your games from entering our server, then you can't play! Isn't Project $10 great?

Nah, see, that's a pretty jarring transition, and EA likes to eeeeeeaaase in the punches to the gut, all smooth like. DA3 will take place in a single castle, then DA4 will take place in a single room. The plot will be that a Darkspawn has put a line of tape across the room and marked the larger side his, and you need to defeat his evil with the help of the family of mice you have as pets. And yes, you'll be able to romance them all.

Sad to see what's become of this once proud and cherished company. What happened? Where did it go all so wrong?

EA? Greed? The unbelievable sales of Call of Duty games each and every year that, for whatever reason, don't seem to reflect the rehashed/rushed quality of the games (maybe made the people working over at BioWare and/or EA stroke their goatees and say "we could do that")? The Success of EA's money-hoarding policies? In other words, unwise consumers, possibly? I'm taking random guesses.

Bleh. Wake me up when Bioware's declared that Dragon Age 2 was meant to be a non-canon joke and that the real Dragon Age 2 will be done properly.

I liked Dragon Age 2.... but I only played it in nightmare mode and had fun killing my teammates with my 2-handed weapons.

There were some fun boss fights... more than I could say for DA:O. I think they put all of their effort into making the combat more action oriented and didn't have time to finish the rest of the game. :P

This is a large disappointment, I loved Dragon Age: Origins. However, after playing the demo for Dragon Age 2 and seeing my roommate play it, I lost all interest. Now they are rushing out another crappy sequel? EA has effectively ruined BioWare for good, I can't stand EA :flame:. I will just have to remember the old BioWare and stick to companies that actually care *COUGH*CD Projekt*COUGH*.

EA

I'm so happy EA didn't buy 2k a few years back. I was a nervous wreck for a while. If EA had purchased 2k they would have gotten Rockstar. I shudder to think what would have become of them...

Not a big surprise. Judging from ME3, they sure seem to have learnt their lesson about proper games taking proper time.
EA

Oh buzz off.
No wait, I will buzz off before it becomes unbearable with blaming EA and confusing an unpolished game with horrendous crap. Ha! *ninja poof*

Mmm indeed, it is too bad. Maybe if EA BioWare actually take their time on this game, it could potentially turn out decent, but I won't hold my breath on that one. I'll have to see how Mass Effect 3 turns out, if it's anything like the second one, then I will have lost hope.
