Birth Control in Tamriel.

oh my God this thread is great.

hmm...
Mysticism manipulates the magical forces and boundaries to bypass the structures and limitations pf the physical world.
Alteration manipulates the physical world and it's properties.
so I would conclude that you could do it with ether. but most likely use alteration.

Telekinesis on IUD for 10 secs. That's plenty of time to get it in there...

I'm surprised no one has found a clever way to mention Muatra yet.

I can't think of one right now, so Muatra.

honestly, have you seen the people in tamriel lately? they are all so damn fugly they probably dont want to have carnal relations with each other.

as for muatra... women expect all men to be so well endowed and loose their mood when they find out otherwise? Alternatively, people are only exposed to oral stimulation of spears, so thats all they do, hence no pregnancy.

Or we can blame it on the Necromancers. If they trap humanoid souls from going to the Dreamsleeve, then there are fewer souls left over to re-inhabit new bodies.

Darned adventurers and their enchanted weapons are what is depopulating Nirn!

To be more serious about it, we can probably assume that there are large families in the countryside and maybe smaller families in the cities such as the IC.

If contraception even exists in Tamriel, it would more likely be in potion form or maybe crude barrier methods. I doubt magicka would be used directly, since we haven't heard of anything like that in the TES series; it would be pulling an answer out of thin air.

North of the Highest bluffs, south of the moors, west of the hills, and east of the sea is called DAGGERFALL. 110 men, 93 women, 13 children under 8 years of age, 58 cows, 7 bulls, 63 chickens, 11 cocks, 38 hogs live here. -- Book of Life

The above passage is an early census of Daggerfall when the city was first founded. It seems that 90% of all the men in High Rock are eunuchs (I know I'm stretching the technical meaning of the word). Still, that would also explain the lack of children.

Any town that small is probably either a pioneer settlement or a shrinking backwater. The lack of children is understandable in both cases.

You mean all the NPC bandits in caves? I swear, there must be more bandits, enemy mages, and necromancers than there are law-abiding citizens... if only because the former group respawns...

well, considering the fact that there were no kids in either morrowind or oblivion...

Indeed, so it's not much of an indication.

That's gameplay mechanics there, since you're going to be killing the former a lot, the game makes sure that there's a plentiful supply of them.

Game limitation. So they don't have to worry about those people in the "Video games make people serial killers" cult complaining.

Bethesda has addressed this differently in Fallout 3, although the method used may be taken to have unfortunate implications, but it does avoid that problem.

Guess it doesnt really count but one mod I found called ''Mountain Shack'' it has you fix up a cabin for your own use and it comes complete with a outhouse in the back

That's a mod though and therefore not canon.

I'd imagine the truth though is that we can assume they do it in Tamriel, it's just never addressed because... well do you WANT to see people do that? Most likely, they either use chamber pots, or just do it outside, maybe that's why some Imperial City residents have sewer entrances in their home, so they can just dump it in the sewers, saves time, and doesn't make a mess on the street.

The exceptions being the folk in High Rock and Hammerfell. So most of our babies come from there.

This is not true, as if you'll notice, the men of High Rock and Hammerfell seem to be somewhat lacking below the belt, if you know what I mean, in the time of the Nerevarine, Khajiit and Argonians were also like this, but by the end of the Third Era, they seem to have turned to surgically attached underwear like the other races.

I bet you those massive architecturally convoluted dungeons over in High Rock and Hammerfell are part of a greater waste disposal system. Seriously, look at those filthy walls.

...and that's where Slaughterfish come from. :hubbahubba:

You mean a concoction of herbs as a sort of "morning after" pill?

Hah, I can just see "Resist Baby" as one of the Alchemical Effects on flora in Tamriel.
