"Birthsigns" are confirmed

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 10:02 pm

I can confirm its true.

So now instead of clicking on a spread-sheet list, you have to do something in the actual game. Nice.

any choices you get to make in Skyrim have permanence?

The 50 cap perks and Races (which are more unique) are permanent - and result in more unique chars than morrowind and oblivion.

I'd find it weird personally if birthsigns were out and stone powers remained, considering aside from The Atronach and The Apprentice most of the birthsigns were pretty much a straight-forward boon to your character. Do any choices you get to make in Skyrim have permanence? <_<

Race and gender?

So like the stone runes in Oblivion right?

Looks like I can play as "The Atronach" after all! :bunny:

You can't argue that until we play the game. We'll have to see just how unique and game changing each individual perk is.

fixed that for you :P
Same as in morrowind I assume. Raising your "attack" rather than an attribute.

Not me evidently.
It's not a birthsign if you're getting it from a stone I never said I wanted birthsigns from an excel spreadsheet..(which I personally have never seen)

I wonder if you can go to one stone and you can keep that one sign you wanty for your character. I would like that I am not sure I just want to see how it turns out in Skyrim.

Since we can't get an exact quote from the magazine, I'm assuming they mean--or misunderstood--that the Doomstones from Oblivion are returning. You don't "pick your birthsign" and switch between them at will. You just get to pick an extra power to get from the Doomstones.

Very different from your birthsign.

Also, I find it very interesting that Doomstones are returning. They were quite interesting in Oblivion, especially if you listened to the speeches the members of the Arcane University made regarding them. I hope we learn more about them and what they are.

Well they said birthsign 3 times, and did say they correlate to 13 constellations. However they are infused in doomstones.

Probably combining regular birth-signs with the birth-sign stones, permanent and more powerful.

Why would they be called "Birthsigns" if you don't "start" with it at birth, seeing you can change it at any time? Unless they'd be called something a little different...

In Oblivion, there were 21 doomstones (13 birthsign stones and 8 heaven stones). The 13 birthsign stones correlated to the 13 birthsigns of Morrowind and Oblivion: apprentice, atronach, lady, lord, lover, mage, ritual, serpent, shadow, steed, thief, tower, and warrior. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Magical_Stones#Birthsign_Stones

They are not 'birthsigns' anymore. You won't choose a birthsign during character creation.

They are constellations or asterisms. The article misspoke by calling them birthsigns.

Well doomstones in oblivion allowed you to do this. When you listen to the mage scholars in the Arcane University, they mention that they are mysterious and our unsure of their powers and how they got there. I guess that's the game's way of making it lore for birth signs to change.

That makes no f* sense
Here here! I concur. Having the option to "choose" your birthsign during actual gameplay? And then picking a different one if you don't like it? What the fudge?! That's like me saying "I don't like being born in September. I'm gonna pick a different birth month and see if I like the astrological sign I am given."

I know right? So, they're Birthsigns...except they've got nothing to do with your birth...and you change them at will at Doomstones you had in Oblivion along with an actual Birthsign... :ahhh:
