A bit early for all of this GotY talk

Post » Mon Oct 05, 2009 9:08 am

There isn't a single website or anything that can declare a game 'GOTY', pretty much any large games website/magazine can. Portal 2, Mass Effect 3, TES V, Dragon Age 2... They can all be Game of the Year.

There is only one game that can challenge Skyrim for GOTY 2011 and that is Diablo 3 if both actually get released in 2011. As for Portal 2, Mass Effect 3, The Witcher 2, Dragon Age 2, Guild Wars 2, Crysis 2, Fear 3 and Bioshock Infinity... they are not big enough to beat Skyrim.

On 2nd thought... is it legal to release this many awesome games in one calendar year?

You forgot Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

And it should be illegal. But then again, the game industry will get a nice shot in the arm as we are going to have to go out and buy all these epic games this year. :celebration:

I personally feel that the game will not only be the game of the year, but also one of the best games ever created. Yet we have no pictures, no videos other than that teaser, and very little news.

And this is what we call 'HYPE'. Christ, I can't believe you've just said that. Wow, I am seriously baffled.

I am honestly, right now, speechless. I can't convey my thoughts in words properly.

EDIT: I'm speaking about your 'one of the best games ever created without having any pictures or videos by the way" by the way, not on the GOTY comment. It's quite obvious that this game will get a GOTY, every major game by big companies gets a GOTY now - it means NOTHING.

It's between Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim.

And yes next year will be brilliant !!! :foodndrink: :woot: :celebration: - I need more raise money and more book off more time haha

To be honest they might make Mass Effect 3 Game of the Year 2011, and leave Skyrim for 2012 lol

...and there was GOTY talk?

Of course all this is assuming THEY DON'T **** UP. And trust me- that is deceptivly easy to do - especially if they are catering for the PS3 and 360 which will- by 11.11.11 be last-gen consoles.

So yeah it might well do. But wait for info!

Game of the Year means absolutely nothing. To prove it, I submit the fact that Oblivion won it.

Welcome to the wonderful world of pre-release gaming communities though.

>Elder Scrolls game
>not game of the year

[censored] you crazy

I will agree however that it's a bit early to say that it will be the best Elder Scrolls so far.

Since it is being released so late in the year (november) would it be eligible for goty in 2012? I'm not sure when awards are given out. There are rumors about the next installment of red dead redemption, if rdr and skyrim come out the same year it will be a dog fight between them two.

It's Oblivion all over again. Bethesda knows how to build up hype. :D

There are enough publications with their own game of the year awards that it's almost certain this will win at least 1 of them.

Indeed. Simultaneously even.

It's not an official title or anything, it really doesn't mean anything.
