A bit nervous about quest bugs.

How about fixing ONE of them? Just one?

This last beta they specifically said they didnt add anything new because they were fixing all the bugs. What one? I didnt see a single bug that I experienced in previous betas get fixed. In fact the server reset didnt even fix a couple. I had 8 or 9 quests in my log from the previous beta I couldnt advance. I still had 3 or 4 left that I still couldnt access this past beta, the one where they said they spent so much time fixing bugs.

So with all the server resets we had this last test and all the stuff they were supposedly addressing there were still 4 quests (which lead to who knows how many other quests) in my log I cant advance.

They havent done anything whatsoever to address these things, or if they have none of them have worked. Whether by design or lack or ability is unknown. But if they have any more betas and these things arent fixed and the release date is the next chance to get into the game I wouldnt be feeling very confident about being able to complete those quests unless I got to them before they broke.

I've played in the last 3 beta sessions. I have seen significant improvements in game stability from each beta to the next. Does that mean I haven't encountered the same frustrating phasing bug everyone else has on quests with too many people trying to hit the same target? No. Of course I've seen it. That doesn't mean that they haven't been working on things and that it won't be fixed by release.

There was one cool mission in the DC line where you had to fight some tough guys in a camp in some woods near a beach... you weren't to kill them, just fight them... they were normally non-hostile but you could talk to one and challenge the NPC and then you could fight to a point and he'd give up... but that mission KEPT getting bugged... and this last beta, either I somehow bypassed that area entirely or they removed that encounter entirely.

Seems like a lot of their bugs involve their phasing tech (in EP, there's a series of braziers that are SUPPOSED to be lit with flames which clue you in for a puzzle but they are not lit, so you have no clue how to solve the puzzle; thankfully you can brute-force the solution).... I hope that if they can fix that "one" thing, it'll end up fixing a lot of bugs that may seem unrelated.

I concur, however, that they reeeeeally need to iron out the bugs, especially in the starter/tutorial areas... new players are rarely forgiving and we don't want the first free 30 days to be a chore for people.

It wasn't removed, this past beta I remember doing it although I had no problems with completing it. This past beta was my first beta also so I would assume that specific quest was fixed from previous betas.

THe thing is , i found aldermri dominion relatively bug free bar 1 or 2 and falling through stairs compared to EB. On the EB side it seems like every alternate quest chain was bugged post level 9. All the more reason to play aldermi dominion at launch. Hope this post will convince you guys to join AD ! psst...we have kate beckinsale as our queen !

Yep, I found that this tactic fixed most of the bugged quests I ran into. Granted, everyone else around me were gone when I logged back in, but I wasn't grouped with them so that's understandable. I did try to let them know that my attempt to fix worked however.

I lost heart last event after realizing our only purpose is to stress the servers. I had been diligently logging every bug prior to this event in hopes of making a difference. I feel better about it now, because stressing the servers is incredibly important, more so that a few measly bugged quests. Even still, it feels a little ridiculous that you're told to report bugs when it doesn't matter. I hope the closed test testers are doing their job, because us pawns can't help with anything other than being present.

Did you manage to make that frog move? Mine just sat in the basket where you stick it to start the race (didn't overfeed it or anything, it just froze up and wouldn't budge after I took it from the feeding basket over to the race basket). First couple times i tried this quest the race basket wasn't even clickable even though it had a marker above it, then a few relogs later I could at least click that, but then frog wouldn't behave  Not sure if I spent any gold, what point was that in the quest?

The only time this really became a huge problem was when it happened in the quest to leave the starter island. As the quest was required to progress any further in the game, it was disheartening to find that quest bugged, with no other option for leaving the island. Other quests, you can just ignore them, or do them later. For those particular quests, you're just plain stuck.

I hope this doesn't happen in early access.

There was only two quests I found during beta that I could not complete, the frog race, and Melaine that would not spawn or something like that, there were small glitches and things but overall I was still able to progress my toon, and I expect there to be bugs at launch, no mmo has or will ever be bug free at lanch or anytime during it's life, just the nature of the beast, the best we can hope for is ZOS is fast to react and fix things as to keep our game play as smooth and fun as possible..:)

Never got it to work.
you had 3 options of frogs, one was intimidate, one was persuade, and one was bribe. I didnt have persuade or intimidate at the time.

Was that when you started the quest? I can't remember now. I didn't have the guild skills either, was too busy checking out the combat skills.

yea right in the beginning. when you choose a frog to race. Im assuming you took the red frog. it cost like 35 gold if i remember correctly to get the owner to let you race that frog. And i retried the quest multiple times lol

That was weird, I only had to buy the frog once, it just stayed bugged for me and eventually let me take the frog out of the feed basket into the race basket, where it finally got stuck for good. Never tried dropping and retaking the quest.

The fact that those of us who have played in multiple Beta tests have experienced the same quest bugs in multiple tests doesn't inspire me to think the issues will be resolved by launch date. Everything I have seen thus far suggests ZOS primary if not sole concern is PvP within Cyrodiil. I am expecting to encounter plenty of bugs for the level 15+ quests the masses have not touched as of yet.

Don't be disheartened. The quest bugs are probably their least concern and probably takes the least amount of time to sort. They must have tons of stuff to fix so they probably have certain bug reports prioritized, that's my guess :)

Dont worry about quest bugs, they are usually very fast fixed. If it is a key quest it is even usually fixed the day it was discovered by hotfix (hotfixes after launch ofc, in BETA they just gather info and repair all at once).

Quest bugs are easy to fix. I wouldn't be worried. But considering no one can get in game atm, how do you know you have 6 right now as of today?!

So you have been in beta for 6+ months and haven't progressed this particular character past the early level zones, have always been in the exact same instance every single time you logged into this character, and yet complain about it?

I ran into bugged quests that were fixed by the end of my play time via a soft reset, server reset, or a patch. It's a simple as that.

We may not have the most recent build, in fact we could be many iterations behind, especially if stress testing is more important to them and they have decided that client is a suitable candidate for that testing purpose.

It's also conceivable that (given the structure of most quests and the associated bugs) they have the fix and could apply it to multiple quests quickly. A lot of the quest bugs I encountered were largely problems with spawning of mobs, which is likely down to phasing handling some mob spawns and as such would be similar fix along all such quests (thus easily rolled out among multiple quest lines).

I wouldn't worry about it too much. There will be bugs, that's inevitable. To think there would be as many as in the last beta would be unrealistic as that would severely hurt the game post launch (whilst the bugs can be worked around as they existed in beta the term pita did spring to mind and I'm not sure how happy people would be when paying money for it), and that's something I don't see them doing, on that scale at least.

Use logic. are those the only circumstances That I would make me experience the same bugs more than once?

maybe, new characters, maybe i was in the first stress tests, friends who also experienced them? all of thee above?

and a quest being fixed by a server restart is not a fixed quest.

so again, shut up, use logic...

For me one of the Benefits of being in a beta is that you learn how to bypass the bugs, just in case they appear during launch. (and years of mmo experience have thought me that you play the first week for the war stories ;))

for example.

Infinite loading screen could largely be fixed by setting shadows to low (lowering you graphics setting overall works aswell, but we found that just lowering shadows did the trick)

Quest mobs not spawning could be fixed by relogging (ussualy took 3-4 times, and if you log in with 10+ people looking at the spawn spot don't bother waiting to see if it spawns just relog :P) it was also possible to fix by using travel to player on someone who had a working phase

Stuck ui could be fixed by /reloadui, but if this bugged your crafting screen then you'r better of clicking the mail icon on your chatbar
