32 or 64 Bit Operating System

I was wondering if there's any benefit (or drawback) to using a 64 bit operating system.

I know that some of the Downloadable Content (DLC) has some issues with it -- Unless they're converted to OMODS or BAIN (which I've done).

But I'm not sure about all the fantastic Mods out there. Do any of them have issues with a 64 bit OS ?

I have three available options; WinXP-32bit, WinXP-64bit or Win7

Which would you choose (or not) and please explain why.

Also, keep in mind that SKYRIM is due in less than a month and that's the next game I'll be wasting the rest of my life on. :tes:

Win-7. XP is on the verge of being deprecated and the 64-bit version is far inferior to what is available in Vista/Win7.

However, the only benefit of running Oblivion on 64-bit architecture is being able to use the LAA patch to extend its RAM allocation limit a bit. Oblivion's engine is still 32-bit, and as such is subject to all the expected limitations, even on a 64-bit OS.

The main reason to go 64-bit now is that this is the way the wind is blowing for future PC software tech. You are future-proofing yourself by doing so.
