Bits of news from Tokyo Game Show

Post » Fri Sep 16, 2011 2:30 am

They go to all the trouble of making the world look real, and then there's an arrow floating over somebody's head??

I've seen the footage, and I genuinely didn't notice this arrow people are talking about. I don't doubt that they're telling the truth, but - granted I was looking around at different things at the time - it's really not a noticeably jarring thing.

I'm trying to not read all the news anymore but what I glimpsed sounds good to me, OP, thank you. I figured they'd change the weightless items.

An article about TGS in The Guardian is calling out Skyrim's dragon because the Dragon's Dogma dragon is supposed to be bigger and badder looking at the show. Um, I don't think so. Skryim dragon FTW. :D

So you complain about complainers when they complain about something you are okay with, and when there's something you don't like, you are allowed to complain? Nice logic, I like it

I don't think the biggest problem would be annoyance in how they look, but the fact that they are there. I would much prefer talking to townspeople and try to find a certain someone
then have a sign above the head (i havn't wacthed the video so i will assume it's a small sign not a big one)

"how much is a garnet worth in real life?"

http://www.flickr.com/photos/wenxue2222/5620271088/in/set-72157626374161901

Real garnet and silver pendant I own. It's quite big and heavy. Was probably about £30 when I bought it 8 or 9 years ago. I'd guess I'd have to pay a lot more for it now as the price of gems and silver seems to be much more now. This one is known as the Christmas pendant as that is really the only time I wear it.

There is more than one kind of garnet though and the value depends on the type, the clarity, the size, where it was mined - lots of things. Garnets are really only a semi precious stone. You can get garnet beads quite cheaply on ebay.

3) Quest target NPCs have a huge mark over the head. Yes, I wish I made this up.

NO!!!!!! I absolutel hate this! Please don't be true...please don't be true...please don't be true! UGH

:( I'm pretty upset about this too. I sincerely hope its toggleable

About the gems: I remember seeing a video where the player looted a diamond and I recall it actually being quite expesnive (though I don't remember the exact figure). I made sure to go back and look as the low price of gems has always irked me... I'm sure different gems will have different values.

Maybe it was just for the demo only? The player marker above Alvor?

Yesss! I liked it, too.

I'm a fan of snow leopards, so... I'm hoping that the game play footage is an indicator that we can change body fur color drastically, instead of everyone walking around looking like a tabby cat.

http://images.uesp.net/thumb/4/4d/SR-character-Eurogamer_wLegal.jpg/800px-SR-character-Eurogamer_wLegal.jpg gives me hope. I like cats, but I have never played (at least seriously) with a Khajiit... but if I can make a http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dK657bzKQno/TcNwQ3xecqI/AAAAAAAABc8/sjZeUPWLdKk/s1600/white_tigers.jpg style Khajiit... this time will be different.

3rd person combat still looks wonky to me in these khajiit videos. Pretty floaty and still quite a bit of back-pedaling speed. Not that I care, really, I'm a 1st-person player. And 1st person looks much better.

Was it the Emerald in the Quakecon Demo?

It had a price tag of 250 septims.

Why would it be? It's a quest, the quest points to Alvor, so Alvor gets a quest marker on his head. Why would they put that in the game only for the demo?

That gives me some hope  Always pissed me off when in OB I got less than a hundred for a "flawless diamond". Though 7 for a garnet is still too few.

We already have the quest compass AND clairvoyance. Do we really need huge quest markers over peoples heads too?

It's for active quests only. Not every single quest related NPC will have a marker over their head. I like it.

Yeah no big deal, really. It's not an obscene-looking marker, either. It's pretty small. At least it's not like GTA's neon circle or something.. lol.

Yea I even thought the quest marker looked sleek and elegant. Plus, once you engage in dialogue it disappears.

The question is actually WHY would we want quest markers? What purpose do they serve? Do we need to instantly find who we are looking for when
we see them and if then why?

It doesn't even pop up until you're close to the NPC. It didn't populate over Alvor's head until he was around 8 feet away and then disappeared as soon as he was "activated"/ engaged in dialogue. Could also be helpful in multi level houses/dungeons/interiors.

You obviously haven't seen the video because if you have, there's no way you would call it a "big mark". It's small.
