They go to all the trouble of making the world look real, and then there's an arrow floating over somebody's head??

I already posted this in another thread, but the RP way I look at this, the world is full of magic, even simple spells. When the NPC asks me to go find someone in town X and marks my map, the mark is magical and leaves a trace on the person they want me to find.

Fur bracers confirmed. Looks like we can add some arm stuff separate from the cuirass/greaves combination.

It doesn't even pop up until you're close to the NPC. It didn't populate over Alvor's head until he was around 8 feet away and then disappeared as soon as he was "activated"/ engaged in dialogue. Could also be helpful in multi level houses/dungeons/interiors.

So if it only appears when 8 feet away why put it there? Is it that hard to just, talk to the guy?
And multi level dungeon etc. i don't see your point?

Should we have a dragon sense when a dragon is close to?
Dovakiin senses tingling?

Genuine gems are worth quite a bit, but price always depends on size and whether or not the gem is cut or uncut.

And no, just a pelt. The pelt looked much more realistic, though. Not just an oblong shaped cut-out of some sort of fuzzy cloth.
hopefully we get different size gems like in oblivion.

and of course Peridot as that its my birthstone in real life.

Don't make the quest active, just read the quest info in the log and try to find directions.

We already have the quest compass AND clairvoyance. Do we really need huge quest markers over peoples heads too?

Despite the demo with Todd in Toddmode, we know absolutely nothing about Clairvoyance; it was an alpha build demo. Didn't Pete tweet that QTs are toggled and the compass is not?

Watch the video first please. "Huge marks" is such an over exaggeration.

it ain't so, they're small marks (kinda look like the dragon in the elder scrolls logo)

edit: nope, just an arrow, that's how small it is i had i to squint to make the form out :P

To add to yours,

  • Underwear is very similar to Oblivion's
  • Third person combat doesn't look really varied

The quest markers in Oblivion would make it seem like you were in the same room (green marker) even though the target was sometimes on another level of the house/dungeon. This remedies that.

Looked different to me, but it might be the axe.

That was hardly huge, it was just like the compass arrow moves from the compass itself to over the target.
It's just more convenient really.

Can't wait for the "Immersion" and the "hand holding" comments about this...

What else would it be? It wasn't exactly a hassle to look where an arrow is pointing. This just goes from stupid to ridiculously unnecessary. There better be a way to turn it off.

The 3rd person combat is not great, but also this guy is playing like a fool and making it look worse than it likely is. I think I'll play 3rd person while traveling and in towns (because it IS much improved over Oblivion), but still prefer 1st person for combat.

I'm sure the quest marker above head thing will be completely optional since they've been obsessed with HUD removal. Everything else I am okay with except that hunting doesnt sound like a viable money making option.

Hunting leads to skinning. Skinning leads to tanning. Tanning leads to smithing. Smithing leads to money. Money leads to greed. Greed leads to thieving. Thieving leads to getting caught. Getting caught thieving leads to murder. Murder leads to the Dark Brotherhood side.

....ooofh, knew I'd get there eventually.

We actually knew that since before.

The question is instead how we can turn them off, and if there are sufficient directions for quests to work without quest markers.

From that twitter post, it seems we have two choices.

Icons on the compass, map, and over NPC heads.

Or none at all.

I'll of course take none at all, but for some this is going to be a major problem.
