Bittersweet beta character wipe

Post » Wed Mar 19, 2014 12:04 am

Obviously the characters from beta have to be wiped. You shouldn't be expected to play during beta, and playing during beta shouldn't give people advantages.

It's still going to svck recreating the two characters I played and doing the exact same quests for the first ~20hours of the game. I'm still not certain if I'll start another character instead, to give it more time before I replay the Altmer and Redguard characters I had in beta.

I almost wish I never touched the beta, but at the same time I doubt I would have been this excited for the game, if it wasn't for playing the beta. In the same way, I kind of like that a lot of the quests were bugged, at least I won't know how those end.

I wish I had enough will power to quit when I got really into it. Sadly, I'm weak and played right until midnight both weekends.

Anyone else wishing they hadn't indulged so much in a disposable character?

Im fine with it as I was just mostly [censored] around. In fact on my last build I was trying out stuff that I thought would actually svck just to see how svcktacular the svckness would be. It turns out that the restoration staff is now my favorite weapon so I am glad that I did mess around with it. If this were the actual game I probably wouldn't have bothered but since it was the beta it didn't matter.

I actually kept making characters so as not to spoil the game. I've played sorc and nighblade, and only played one alliance in beta. so I've only seen DC content up to lvl 10, and the cyrodiil tutorial.

I mostly made experimental builds for the betas, knowing my characters would be wiped in the end. Glad I did, learned a lot and it was far more fun that just theorycrafting a skill calculator.

Yeah. At first I was just eager to see everything, but this beta I started skipping over quest dialogue to avoid spoiling things for myself.

I'm also sad to lose my characters. I logged on to all six of them one final time and took them to various nice spots to watch the world end.

I logged off in a secret place well hidden, so hopefully it will survive the wipe

Before the beta ended I changed my stat points to all into health and my gear to stamina and magicka only...I screwed my stats, gained almost no health, +2 magicka and -50 stamina. At least now I know I wont be going for ful health at release.

My wife and I purposefully only played in EP and DC during beta so that the world will be fresh for us in the AD at launch.

I put on a full set of heavy armor enchanted with health, slotted spiked armor, magma armor, and dragons blood with a sword and shield.

...and then attempted to tank out the apocalypse.

I partied in Ebonheart for awhile and then left to find a ledge by the water and did a /kneelpray. My beta character's demise was very zen.

In regards to the OP, very bittersweet, but I feel it gave me a very good idea of what kind of character I want to start with and what direction I want to go.

I am actually glad I got really into it during the beta. Not only did it help kill time and tide me over as I hotly anticipate release, I learned a lot of little tricks that are going to help my crafting go a lot faster than it would have if I had not made multiple attempts at it over my 4 beta shots.

Learned to break down EVERYTHING instead of what I thought I should and to only horde what I knew I would 100% need instead of everything I thought I may. To research only the gear my character would use and I also taught myself to check every single chest, bookshelf, dresser, desk and crate.... just in case lol.
