A Black Book just cost me my main.

First of all, I cannot reload any earlier saves to try to fix this. I save over the same file every time to minimize save files because I tend to create a lot of characters.

I read the Black Book: Filament and Filigree. First, I had the glitch where that annoying, ear-grating sound followed me back to the real world. I looked up the standard fix, which was save and reload. When I reloaded, the glitch where you're permanently stuck in the health damaging darkness from inside the book was there. Looked that up, too, and went back inside the book so I could come out again and see if it was fixed.

I am now trapped inside the book. After a lot of scrambling around because a high level Lurker was waiting for me, I can't get out. I'm a sneak character, so first order of business was escape the Lurker. I rolled through the darkness all the way to the other end and stopped at the top of the stairs. The Lurker couldn't see me, and the mist wasn't hurting me, so I decided to leave the book at that point and see if the mist glitch was fixed.

Instead of taking me to the real world, it took me back to the end of the level with the Lurker. I killed the Lurker, and now when I do anything that should get me out of the book, it doesn't work. Reading either my book or the one at the end of the level causes either an auto save or it reloads me at the top of the stairs where I first tried to escape. Dying reloads me at the top of the stairs as well. It seems to think "Exit to Solstheim" means "place at the top of the stairs", and I don't know what else I can try anymore.

try reistalling you game data.

Go to XMB menu at the game list search for game data and delete skyrim then start the game and it should install it by its own (this one is a solution to many bugs)

PS:do not i repeat do not delete the saves

Oh my gosh, what a nightmare. I hope Ex's advice works for you. If you have a lot of characters than a loss of just one isn't too bad, is it?

I really believe you should seriously rethink your save policy, or lack thereof. You know Skyrim has more problems per square inch so you need extra insurance. I'm currently playing/loving Tales of Xillia and I made a new save file every day during my first playthrough. At this point, I'm around 200 hours in, on my 3rd playthrough and only rotate 2 save files because I haven't found a single glitch in all this time. But we know our beloved Skyrim isn't like this.

Good luck!
