Black Hat vs White Hat?

Post » Tue Jan 11, 2011 7:32 am

So am I right to make the comparision that the operative and engineer is playing out like an IT war? With Operatives being the black hats while engineers are the white hats?

I have to edit this up here because no everyone is reading the whole thing before posting, although the result is quiet funny.

Black Hat = - A Hacker (Or rather cracker, but that's a different discussion) who uses his abilities for malicious purposes.

2- Anything relating to malicious use of the internet.
1- as a hacker, I would have to say he's definately a black hat hacker.

2- since the software's ony use was generating registration keys for legitamite software, it was considered balck hat software.

White Hat= In referance to a hacker - A hacker or even a cracker who uses his skills only in either legal or "friendly" activities.. or to trap/interupt the actions of script kiddies and other distructive activities.
The security anolyst was a white hat.

You're right, appearance items have nothing to do with class.

On opposite teams they are each others' arch nemesis. On the same team, they are best friends. I like the dynamic interplay between the two classes. Should make for some fun moments, and some frustrating moments as well.

Please do not take this offensively, but thats funny. I am not referencing there clothing but rather there respective roles.

Black hats = hackers who break into computer systems with malious intent.

White hats = try and stop the black hats
