So I recently got the last perk in the sneak tree, and ever since then there's been a black haze on my player. When I try to sneak kill someone with a bow, the smoke gets in my way, and in 3rd person view it's not appealing to look at. Even when I'm not crouched the haze is still there. Is there a way to fix this other than legendarying the tree?

I read that sitting in a chair sometimes helps with stuff like this. There's probably a console command for it as well.

Are you wearing the Ebony Mail?

This happens when you are wearing the Ebony Mail. This will also happen if you have the Ritual Armour of Boethiah (the shroud gives of an aura when you are sneaking).

It's also a glitch that can occur if you have the Dawnguard DLC. It happens sometimes when fighting Death Hounds, their aura ends up on you for some reason *this has happened to me several times*. If you are on the PC version, type help "death hound" and look for their aura spell fx ID, then go into 3rd person view and add the spell via player.addspell xxxxxxxx then remove it via player.removespell xxxxxxxx (x's being the spell ID). For the console version... no clue. Perhaps transforming into a Werewolf/Vampire Lord may remove it.

I'm playing on an Xbox, so no console commands for me. I'm not wearing Ebony Mail, and I know for sure it's not from a Death Hound because I kill everything with stealth, so it couldn't have made contact with me. I've had it ever since I got the last perk on the sneak tree.

No, I've only killed them with stealth. But that's how the haze looks.

I'm not sure how it happens, but even if you are close to see them spawn or don't get hit by them you can still get the effect on you. The only ways to remove it are the solutions I http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1507674-black-haze/#entry23771852, or reload a save before it happened
