I doubt it, but if it is back, I'm excited to see what they'll make.

Interesting. Back from the dead, I wonder what they will whip up.

That is, if this is legit.

Doesn't seem terribly official to me. Plus we'd have heard something from Interplay themselves. They'd have made huge song and dance about the rebirth of such a well loved development arm of theirs.

If it is legit, then it's probably Interplay making one last ditch effort to recapture what they once were. Take the name, but that's it. Most of the Black Isle Devs are with Obsidian and other studios. Those that aren't probably wouldn't want to go anywhere near anythingInterplay is involved in.

If this is for real, then YAY!

I'm not sure if they really are back yet though.

It seems that Interplay IS involved.

That looks like a very old piece of info judging by the dates. (Created 1997) Plus we now Interplay's involved, they own Black Isle to begin with and likely still hold rights to the name.

Interesting that this happens now, four months before the original record expires.

Like I say, since Obsidian was formed by a large number of Black Isle refugees it's unlikely any new Black Isle Studios would be anything other than set dressing over a new bunch of devs that had little to nothing to do with the old Studio.

This may even just be somebody trying to be funny and trolling all the old fans.

Until we get something official, don't believe it.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Black Isle's name being used again along with the logo don't really mean anything.
The franchises they developed are now in the hands of other studios.
The developers they had employed have moved on to other studios.

So it's nothing to be excited about.
Cause even if they do announce a game that seems awesome, remember that it's still in the hands of Haerve Caen who cancelled Van Buren, focused on F:BOS and laid off most employees at Black Isle.
So I won't be the slightest bit optimistic unless I can get proof that they are developing a game to the same quality as Icewind Dale, Planescape or Fallout.
Which I find highly unlikely due to their... Financial situation.

It's more likely they'll go for something that sells rather than something of passion.

Seems like it's real, but I find it hard to be excited about this, for two reasons.

Interplay doesn't really have any money and never made particulary good decisions since it was taken over by the Caen brothers (like cancelling Van Buren), besides putting up their old games on GOG I guess. And the people who were involved in Black Isle before and made it good are now working elsewhere, so the talent won't magically come back just because the brand is. For me this brand resurrection have a lot to live up to and a lot to prove, and I'm not willing to give them my trust just like that.

That said, I guess we can expect some sort of Kickstarter about their project in the future, they need to get the money somehow.

It is most likely Interplay's new desperate strategy. It doesn't really matter as black isle's brains are in Obsidian and Herve is in charge of Interplay/black isle.

Well I sure can't wait for fallout: brotherhood of steel 2  .
This may have been relevant 8 years ago but really black isle should stay dead the reputation will more than likely be tarnished again.
