Black Ops Reported. Fallout next?

Post » Sun Mar 15, 2009 9:37 pm

The Gamers' Voice group have formed a complaint about Black Ops to the relevant government agencies saying:

"it doesn't matter how big a game is, it should not be released 'unfinished' or with bugs that make the game unplayable, which are words we have seen in a lot of emails to us recently."

I agree, but I bet the game isn't as buggy as FNV. Wonder if that game will be reported next. I've had thirty crashes so far, so i think it should be. Who agrees?

That's theoretically impossible. Though someone dropped the ball with F:NVs bugs being let allowed to go out on release, but in general, bugs are not always continuous, a bug or glitch is just that, it's an error or hiccup in the game.

Bugs have been around for as long as video games have been around.

It seems that everytime a game comes out there are people who complain that "this is the last straw" and that we should "take the developers to court for releasing such as piece of crap! Viva la Revolution!"

In reality nothing ever comes of it and nothing ever will. Bugs will always be around and personally I didn't think that New Vegas had that bad of a release. I've seen worse.

A few bugs are ok, but not constant crashing. NV is a good story, but the freezing really kills most of the enjoyment. The Strip, which is supposed to be the main attraction, is where it happens the most.

I bet there's a bit long thread dedicated to this stuff where people can whine together collectively.

Talk about fiddling while Rome burns.....the UK is swirling 'round the toilet bowl and they're begging the government to save them from buggy video games?

Thats kinda what I was thinking too. They're are more pressing matters to attend to. From what I can tell Black Ops and the like is still very popular. If game developers want to make money they will make playable games. If they don't, they fail. If they want to stay in business they will correct themselves.

Fiddling while Rome burns...thats a good anology

Well, I don't think FNV had that kind o' obvious bugs.
And for the people who thinks FNV was/is so buggy. I'd like to remind them Vampire: The Masqureade for instance. :)

Not to mention many grasshoppers are green caused by other software or hardware related single papers issues.
Myself on pc apart from hand washing loading in sneak, never got a serious bug that was not soft / hardware related elsewhere.
Got a few other minor bugs with a quick work around the garden, but all minor and not rant worthy at all.

Maybe other systems have greater issues.
This also could be because the companies that make them spend zipo lighter time on updating and improving their base product.
The consoles are outdated, only the doo dahs, gizmos and thaga me jigs that are not reeaally needed are worked on.

The difference between New Vegas and Black Ops is that NV is actually a good game, and a few bugs are tolerable. Call Of Duty is what's wrong with gaming today. :swear:

Exactly. Every "buggies-game-ever" of the week causes this reaction. Well, something has been done now, but if this actually causes any sort of reaction, i'll eat my hat.

It may seem that i'm being uneededly cynical, but the truth is all bugs i've experienced with Bethesda's games are what i consider minor. Even that one that prevented me from seeing the ending for the first time, after all i got into the ending fine :D

I think the only reason why Black Ops is being targeted is because it's a popular ONLINE MULTIPLAYER game that has a majority of its bugs in its ONLINE MULTIPLAYER modes. So the problems are very widespread and everyone has them. Not to mention nothing is being done about it.

New Vegas is a single player game, the bugs aren't as widespread, not everyone experiences the same bugs, and Obsidian is doing something about it. So I don't expect it to be targeted anytime soon, or at all.

I really love how the newer generations think that everything should be perfect for them and they should get whatever they want, and even the tiniest things are huge deals to them... :shakehead:

I am actually surprised that no one has actually stood up to Bethesda after all; we are always complaining about bugs and stuff. Then again its Fallout & not Cod. Cod is an online game at most and shouldn't have any bugs. Plus they makes 4x the profit that Beth makes. BUT STILL BETHESDA & OBSIDIAN NEED TO CHANGE THEIR WAY.

Then tell Bethesda enforce a better QA procedure and to delay the release to allow for more bug testing if needed, instead of not doing so forcing Obsidian to release a product they had barely any time to test.

In fact, the fault of Obsidian's publishers is more than likely the main reason why most of their games are buggy.

After a lot of reading here over the past few months, I've come to a conclusion that may be accurate, or not. Your choice if you read this.

I'm finding it hard to not be a little bitter about the crashing on the PS3 and the bugs that were introduced in the 1.2 patch. Like I said...a little bitter. I love these games. I want them to be great...to be better. I expect some crashing; that's built-in when I buy it. I can imagine that: the good people at Obsidian were working on this game and then got word it would be released sooner. With some quests that seem unfinished, locations undeveloped, and some logic problems and just the things we've seen in the game that aren't quite right, I think this may have happened. Whether right or wrong, it's how it looks to me. I feel bad for anyone who's playing on the consoles and have a worse time than me when I tried this last time. I have a PC version too and can play on that with minimal problems because of modding. I'd like to play on my PS3 but it just crashes too much. Not sure what I could tweak on that though like I can tweak the PC.

So anyway, that's my humble opinion. I love the game but something has suffered with my feelings for the companies who released it. Trust. It's a little beat up right now.

That's all. It's how I feel about it. I wouldn't sue anyone though.

I don't care. All the bugs that made the game unplayable for me have been fixed long ago.

Yes games should be tested very well before released but Bethesda dropped the ball.

FNV is much different than Black Oops, and Obsidian is fixing the bugs that got through do to Bethesda rushing them and not doing the QA up to snuff.

On an unrelated note: http://ihavetohavethat.com/index.php Bring on the apocalypse :D

I played this game almost all the way through no patch the first time. I can't say that I had any bugs to speak of in that play through. I did have a couple of glitches, but those were solved by reloading an earlier save and doing that part over again. When doing it again, there was no issue. Since the patches, I have not seen any other bugs per say either. However, I have noticed the companions have gotten a little weird, but they work better.

There doesn't exist a game without bugs. It's just a bunch of people who needs to get butthurt about something all the times, complaining about the bugs. I would like to see them make a game like that with fewer bugs. impossible.
