Blade Runner and Fallout 4

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 2:20 pm

So, even from what little we've seen so far, I've noticed some similarities/allusions:

This: http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/fallout.gamepedia.com/b/b4/Fallout4TrailerAn049.pngreminded me quite a bit of this: http://files.tested.com/photos/2012/10/09/40850-blade-runner-blimp.jpg

In this video http://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-4s-todd-howard-talks-lighting-and-weather-effects-in-new-video/around 1:19 you can see people eating noodles with chopsticks, which wouldn't make sense given fallout's Americana themes, unless you consider a reference to this: https://timewantsaskeleton.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/deckardeatingnoodles.jpg

Plus there's the whole memory den and if you've seen Blade Runner, implanted memories are kinda an important plot element.

So what do you think? Given the whole android angle of the Institute, do you think we'll run into a lot of Blade Runner allusions?

Obviously the whole android replicant thing is lifted straight from Blade Runner/Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? And 'That Gun' is basically Deckard's blaster.

I want to be able to preform empathy tests, Androids lack a certain.... sympathetic response.

'That Gun' ~as it's been monikered, was in Fallout as well (with no other relation); so that's the origin of that, to be sure.

(Except of course that the gun is from Blade Runner. :) Feargus must have really liked it.)

Androids would rip the legs off a spider. A perfectly neutral spider I might add.

The only thing I care about is that a rogue android is described as "going Maverick" at some point in the game. If the token android companion is an expy of Mega Man X (an Xpy, if you will), I wouldn't complain much either.

Ohh god, anyone but X. X was such a freaking complaining, whiny, loser.

Make it Zero if anyone.

No, as in Zero from the Megaman X, Zero, and ZX series.

Megaman X was created by Dr. Light as the first truly sentient android, capable of making decision on his own. Zero was created by Dr. Light's rival, and longtime Megaman badguy, Dr Wily to be the same kind of android, but better.

Zero did end up being better then X was, and had many personal problems like X did, but didn't whine about them anywhere near as much as X did. X was just an annoying character who constantly complained about most things, Zero wasn't anywhere near as annoying.

Hopefully the noir street will be a hub for some private-eye type quests.

Hell as long as i get to do a bit of Origami (something I cant do real life) I will be pleased as punch.

Also the movie Strange days, and cough Johnny mnemonic (not as good as I remember it heheh on rewatch) may have influenced a tad.

More likely to get comments like, "I made your eyes.", or a reference to the spider's nest memory.

Plus, given the new weather system, some reference to "tears in rain"

I never felt like X was that whiny, except for maybe in X7... and that game was just annoying and terrible all around. I wouldn't mind seeing a Zero expy, though, either, as long as it's not Zero series "I never smile and I only ever said one badass thing" Zero. Hm, maybe a Vile expy would be better...

I wonder if Dr. Whitley survived the Enclave-Brotherhood conflict in DC and traveled north. Maybe the token android companion is a man named Eddie? :P

Hope we have some android villains and they aren't all like Harkness. Some Roy Batty characters where, though you may sympathize with their motives, you hate his means. Would be a nice set up for a companion.

Never thought much of Whitley being alive. Him (or any other Enclave scientist) being Operation Paperclipped ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Paperclip) into the Institute would be cool.

Yeah that might would be fun!
