Blades Armor - NOT Stolen? :S

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 11:31 pm

It's been mentioned in other threads and a recent one, in fact, but I couldn't find it, that if you take the Blades Armor out of the chest in the side room of the Sky Haven Temple it has to be stolen. I just took it from the chest and:
1) It was not red when I viewed it in the chest.
2) It's not tagged as Stolen in my inventory. :o

What happened? :P

My intentions were to take it (steal it), replicate it and put the original set back.

You clearly did not advance in the MQ.

I was there (still am, actually - game's paused) with Delphine and Esbern and just advanced the line to The Throat of the World. D and E even made it across the bridge and past the fire trap room.

You can take anything you want from Sky Haven Temple (including The Blades armor and Dragonbane), but you have to do it at the right time.

During the Alduin's Wall quest, you can take anything you want from Sky Haven Temple as soon as you enter it. Just don't go talk to Esbern because this will advance the quest and put everything in Sky Haven Temple under Blades ownership and therefore make it stealing if you take it.

As a note, if you're part of the thieves guild, you can sell it to Tonilla and buy it back. You'll lose some money in this process but that's the price to pay to unflag it.

There is a barrel in Dragonsreach that apparently removes the flag as well. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1356673-dragonreach-fencers-barrel/

It was after Alduin's Wall was completed, but before The Throat of the World was completed (in progress). So it would've been flagged as "Stolen" after The Throat of the World, then...or further along?

I'm fine either way, but I was kinda' looking forward to a caper.

Oh, yes. That's how I cleared the flags from all my Dibella Statue's in my chick's houses. ...and a few other things. :ninja:

Yeah, I still need to check that barrel out. Beats paying 'fees'. :P

I've consoled into the temple on a couple of early toons, and everything was marked "Stolen" - *shrug*. I fixed that by using the console to "setownership" before taking anything. I can't be bothered any more though - it's heavy armor (and ugly to boot), and I now have a mod for craftable katanas, so don't need the blades sword.

No; once Delphine and Esbern tell you to do a little dragon-slaying, they cease to be allied with you (their relationship status is set from "Friend" to "Acquaintance") and the player is removed from the Blades faction which owns everything in the Temple. Completing Delphine's quest resets the changes, and further increases Delphine and Esbern's relationship rank with you.

Heh. Their loss.... and I must say that I find your sig's Bard quotes interesting.

So it would be flagged as "Steal" after I refuse to kill Paarthurnax?

Yes. Or more accurately, if you complete the MQ without killing him. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Because they have small roles and are trying to maximize their screen time - give 'em a break, Diva. :o :P

Aphie, if you're on pc there's a mod to make them walk the same speed you do.

I picked up the armor immediately after traveling back to skyhaven after finding it for the first time and letting them settle in. Nothing was considered stolen. Theres some things i left in that room, and its still not flagged during the Elder Scroll quest
