Blades Members leaving

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 12:40 pm

So I'm playing another playthru of Skyrim on my 360 and I just finished Alduin's Wall now I can recruit three people to be Blades, now when I play I like to get a feeling of completion, so I decided "Alright, I'll fill up Sky Haven Temple with 3 new Blades" so first I tried the female Dunmer from Azura's Shrine. Took her to the temple, she did the oath etc...then she left the temple and went back to Azura, so I looked on UESP and saw it said "Some followers will not move into the Temple but will return to their original location". So I thought ok maybe this person is one of those, tried Lydia..and she left too, appeared back at my house..so..does anyone know WHICH followers won't leave the temple but actually move in?

I remember having Mjoll, Vilkas, and J'Zargo moving into the temple.

Don't know why you would help the Blades anyways. Unless you want to be their puppet.

Probably because 1) You aren't their puppet and 2) The Blades are awesome? :tops:

Literally everyone in Skyrim has you doing their dirty work. Blades do it once? People [censored] and moan.

True, but at least none of them act like Delphine.

The way she essentially bosses you around and gives you, the Dragonborn, orders to kill a Dragon who aided the Heroes of Old.

Like a leader? Yes, there is a distinct lack of leaders in Skyrim, I will agree on that.

For the OP, I have hirelings from the taverns stay at the temple as Blades when I did that playthrough. I don't like killing the Dragon on the Throat of the World. I feel he offers more than the Blades do.

Okay, well, I never paid much mind to Delphine as I usually talk to Esbern or my other Blades recruits. And I only joined them because I wanted to have the Dragonslayers back in Tamriel again; you know, a way to stick it to the Thalmor and say "Hey f*ckers, we're back!" Other than that, I feel no moral or political obligation towards them whatsoever.

I just went through the main quest again and if I heard things right, it was actually Esbern's idea to make Paarthunax pay for his crimes. He's just not as direct about it as Delphine.
If you visit them after the main quest Delphine says something about "agreeing completely with Esbern, he needs to die."

Honestly, I don't believe you should owe anyone anything after defeating Alduin. I got them a sweet hideout, they led me to Paarthy. We're even, now I'll just throw them away like they want me to do with Paarthy. They can go do it themselves if they want. Imma go home and read some books, thank you very much.

Eh, a little more on topic, maybe you should try out a few followers if you have the time. See which ones stick around and which ones take off.

She's trying to "lead" the person she works for.

Pity it's their sworn duty to serve the Dragonborn.

Sometimes serving means telling hard truths. Their entire purpose now is to slay dragons, not spare them. If you spare a dragon, especially one such as Paarthurnax, then you are not worthy of being served.

Telling hard truth =/= outright telling bossing someone around

It is their prerogative to do just that, though.

Aww, diddums, did they hurt your feelings by doing so? Welcome to the real world.

If it is their purpose to slay Dragons well than the should do the deed themselves. But they cant and they rely on the Dragonborn to do their bidding and if you say no the are like children who dont get what they want. If the Dragonborn says no than you either accept it and move on and fight other Dragons or you sit alone in Skyhaven Temple all day doing nothing of relevance. They do the latter in game which is one of the reasons they are not liked that much.

>"Is talking about video games"

>"Complains about something that makes 100% sense in said video game."
>Okay. ;)

So basically what you are saying is that people don't like the Blades because Bethesda didn't script the Blades recruit to go out and hunt dragons on their own? Most of the position toward the Blades is drenched in hypocrisy. This is already a game world where the vast majority of people have you do things, some even "commanding" you to do them. This is already a game world where almost everything occurs when the player is present and remains idle when not.

@The OP; I typically use Faendal, Marcurio and Benor as my blades recruits. Never had any problems with them being at the Temple.
