I'm bleeding...

I thought it would be cool if there was a "bleeding" status, kind of like "poisoned" or "addict". It would be brought on by getting shot by certain kinds of weapons/ammo combined with luck rolls by the shooter and the person getting shot. If you're unlucky and you get shot with a shotgun, you'll be bleeding for a while. So you'd better use your doctor skills or find a doctor to help you. I think it would add a level of realism to the game and it could help create variety and help balance weapon and ammo types.

they had bleeding, poison, radiation, in FO 1 & 2 so why not?

In FO 2 if you humped too much in the porm studio or used hokers to much didn't you get VD and a stat was reduced? MMO's... MMO's never change...

I only recall getting the disease if you agreed to be a fluffer. I think it reduced either endurance or perception for awhile. It also secretly reduces your dignity stat. Glad I saved before I went through with that! Curiosity kills... gets the cat venereal diseases.

AFAIK, bleeding is an idea that I came up with.

I never saw it in any FO, but if you came up with the idea of bleeding, I really hate you ;-).

I can't really think of an MMO that doesn't have a bleeding effect.

Let's see, bleeding wounds could be caused by... Blades (better quality+good maintenance=better chance to cause a bleed and longer lasting bleed) Pistols and SMGs firing JHP ammo (fist sized exit wounds tend to bleed all over) Shotguns firing Buck and Bird shot or flechette (you get between 10 and 150 holes in you at once you're gonna bleed) or rifles and MGs firing HP rounds (again, fist sized holes bleed alot). The ranged weapon bleeds could all be short term, such as one cycle of 5sec, where an edged weapon bleed could continue for 30sec+ depending on factors... Also make Edged bleeds stackable and consecutive, where ranged bleeds could only run consecutive.

*Frank the wastelander cuts Gus the Raider, causing a bleed reducing his attack rate and movement rate and draining him 5hp/sec for 30sec, He then continues to attack 5 more times, the last cut also opening a bleeding wound 10sec after the initial bleed. Gus is now down 2x on attack and movement as well as now losing 10hp/sec for the next 20sec and then 5hp/sec for 10sec after*

*Princess the ghoul shoots a radscorpion with her 10mm pistol using JHP ammo and starting a bleeding wound, reducing the Radscorpion's attack rate and movement rate for 5sec and draining 5hp/sec for 5sec... She continues pumping rounds into the radscorp and after her first bleed attack expires she is able to inflict a second, again reducing attack, movement and draining an additional 5hp/sec*

The reason that I'd give the bump to blades is simple, you have to take damage to get in close against a ranged opponent.

Of course use of alcohol will exacerbate the bleeding, yes? Like your heart when you realize you're dying... but you're trying.

Hmm, perhaps bleeding could give a bonus to tracking, penalty to sneaking, etc?

I hope you mean a penalty versus tracking (i.e. you are easier to track). As I've said so many times before, having this could be nice, but it all depends on what the rest of the game looks like. You don't want things to be too complicated either (complications introduce bugs, make the game harder to play for newcommers and might not actually make the game any more fun to play at all).

I meant that the person tracking gets a bonus to track a bleeding person, which is the same thing we both said. We just said it in different ways.
