Bleeping Collars

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2010 6:12 am

Well the title kinda says it all ..... BLEEPING collars!
If my head blows off one more time cos the only way I can suss out which way to go is to just run for it, I'll bleeping scream!
I'd like to put bleeping collars on the bleeping designers of Dead Money!
I can't believe I spent good money on this bleeping DLC :) But I did, so I'm gonna finish it if it bleeping kills me!

stop being a COD player and take it slow. i didnt have any problems with it until one point in the vault with a few shielded ones close together (took me forever to notice that blue one in the middle).

Back up and try again, or load up and try again. Thats all their is to say. Or find a youtube guide to help you. I know its frustrating looking for those radios in such a dark environment but thats how it is. It does get your blood pumping up though.

I do like your use of bleeping in the thread though.

Seriously i don't know why people rag on the collars seriously without them i think i would find DM a bit boring. I actually liked them cause they wen't with the story of the Sierra Madre and how it made the people greedy so Elijah had improvise with the collars.Awesome!

Yea the collar was a pain I just downloaded a mod to turn it off. If you have PC version there are mods that turn off the cloud and collar. Some say it destroys the experience, but I find it to make it more enjoyable the collar was just obnoxious.

I didn't mind the collar itself all that much, since there was always a way to get past a given speaker, but what I did mind was the shielded speakers. I don't care what they're made of, if I fire a high-powered energy blast (read: Holorifle) at a piece of electronics it should short out immediately.

I managed to get past them anyway, although there were several locations where I had to back out multiple times before I spotted the things.

If anything I would have liked a longer period before the collar explodes, however I think I'll leave it be as it keep things interesting.

Oh dear, I think I gave the wrong impression

I was just kidding around a bit really. I just wanted to have a little rant after 90 minutes trying to find my way around something; must have reloaded last save about 25 times :(

You see I am a player who does take it slow (see below 1), I like to explore every last nook and cranny (a bit of a 'completionist' I fear). So I kinda found it a bit annoying that there seem to be some areas that you just have to run through and can't fully explore cos the collar starts bleeping and the speakers are shielded ones etc.. It almost seemed un-Fallout-like, if you know what I mean.

1. If I wanna just dash around I play sonething else, like L4D2 lol. The Fallout games for me are about exploring, sussing out the best way to get around things and so on. (I play Stealthy - high Sneak, Lockpick etc., so I don't have the skills to charge in and bash bash anywhere, even if I wanted to).

P.S. What's a COD player?

you ever played any of the recent COD games? (4,WaW,MW2,BO) 90% of those players have no patience or ability to aim whatsoever, and usually spend almost all of the match holding the sprint button.

OH! Call of Duty!!! How dim am I lol? Naw, like I said, if I want to dash around it's L4D2 etc.. I prefer taking my time, figuring stuff out - more a Metal Gear Solid than a COD player.

There was only a few spots that frustrated me, but I was able to figure them out. If you want frustration I was stuck on the original God of War for a month!!!

I never did finish God of War 2 on hard - now there was a frustrating game. I personally find the collars and mist to be a necessary evil of the game - there isn't enough suspense without them but with them I find DM to be one of the most engrossing storylines in recent games. That has always been my complaint with the Beth games - yes you can do anything you want, but the main story is always something of a let down. In DM, I wanted to find out who the characters were, what they could do and where they were going. I was a little disappointed with the girl staying behind, but I would love to see her again. What's next Obsidian?

I think I died from the collar twice, and that was during the final mission when I missed a few while running the radio gauntlet.

Just did the DLC again, with a much more prepared character, and knowing where the speakers are ahead of time makes a huge difference in one's opinion of them. This time the only one that even bothered me was the shielded one in the vault just before the control room, where you have to do a complex jump-and-run to get out of its LOS in time. It wasn't even the speaker itself that bothered me, it was the room's layout as there is a lack of safe spots with which to reset the collar timer (I only found two).

That said, I very much hope they do not employ anything similar in future DLCs as it would get old very quickly.

the only reason people hated the collars is cause they kept failing and didnt think of another solution
instead of continously running and dying why not try turning of the speakers or shooting them
