blender .nif plugin?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 7:40 pm

So when I go here to learn how to install the nif scripts http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/139664-relz-blender/ it just links to a nifscope download. I've looked in the nifscope folder and the Blender folder and done a search of my hard drive. The file I'm supposed to run (blender_nif_scripts-2.3.7-windows.exe) does not exist anywhere. Can someone please clarify where to get the blender nif plugin, since every link to it is Nifscope? I realize the answer is going to probably be something really obvious and I'm gonna feel dumb but hey, wouldn't be the first time, won't be the last. Thanks in advance.

I think this is what you are looking for. I always download from sourceforge. http://sourceforge.net/projects/niftools/files/blender_nif_scripts/2.5.x/2.5.08/blender_nif_scripts-2.5.8.09855eb-windows.exe/download

Squee! Thank you! I wonder why every other time it's referenced, the link isn't to this, but to Nifscope. It's a mystery. @_@

Oh WTF. Haha no wonder there's hardly any links to it, it doesn't actually work. Even if you install Python 2.6 and the Interface Tools thing it still insists you don't have it. Bummer. >:o

The nif scripts do indeed work but I believe are incompatible with newer versions of blender. I use Blender 2.48 and nif scripts 2.4.3.

The latest blender nifscripts works with is 2.49b. I heard they are working on one for the latest, greatest blender. But it isn't a stable release yet.

That'd be great. Im afraid this old version of blender is quite clunky at times and Ive heard the new one has custom hotkeys.

I would consider that by version 2.5.8 of nifscripts, they might have actually created a working version.... I posted the link to the one that I use. It works fine with 2.49b and I just redownloaded the scripts from the same link that I gave you to check. Still works. It must be a user end issue. Perhaps you need to update your pyfii?

This is a new computer, so I never had it. I simply downloaded and installed everything it told me to get. I'm not the only one who had this problem, I had two other people (one an IT professional) try to freshly install Blender with nif scripts from scratch and the same issue came up. I'm glad yours works for you but I don't know of anyone who was able to install from scratch and get it running. :/ It's okay, I got 3ds max instead. x.x
