Blizzard Scrolls bug

Post » Tue Nov 29, 2011 2:40 pm

I'v already posted this in the issues section of the forums but can't seem to ellicit a reply anywhere on the topic.
Blizzard scrolls seem to be terribly bugged and damage the player and his companions as well as anyone in the area in general.

This did not happen when I first started the game and thus I know it is a bug, blizzard scrolls were my favorite ace in the hole that I would pull out in particularly dangerous situations. I spent over 5 thousand for 5 scrolls. (almost 6 thousand). Only to find that they are now useless.

Because it is such a small facet of the game i'm not going to wait around for bethesda to fix it when this will just be swept into a sea of negligible issues, yet for me it is incredibly annoying and extremely dissapointing as it was my favorite scroll to use and now it seems I can never use the scroll again for the rest of the game.

All i'm looking for is a simple console command or if there is any information on how to reverse this and get it back to normal or just a "this happened to me too" would be nice.

Ok after some research I'd like to report that the blizzard scrolls bug IS NOT permenant. It happens when you pick up multiple blizzard scrolls and they are stacked in your inventory (for some reason).

The only way to move beyond the bug is to tough your way through the cast. I'v tried dropping the scrolls on the ground and picking up one at a time or selling and rebuying but this doesn't help. You have to actually cast a blizzard scroll and tough it out by healing. Once you do this your following casts of the blizzard scroll should work almost as intended again (you will be immune but sometimes your character will still make the damage recieved yelps).

I used one Blizzard Scroll and it was hands down the most mind-blowing, satisfying experience of a magical effect in any game I've ever played. If this is a spell you can learn as a high-level mage, I'm definitely rolling a mage next playthrough.

It seemed to work very well for me and laid waste to a throng of enemies. I don't recall experiencing any damage, perhaps you just have to cast it towards a certain area and move back out of the AoE?
