Block perks?

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 7:22 pm

You see, I am currently level 34 and I have just gotten into block. I want to get a good blocking character going. But I also want to invest in some other skill trees. So can somebody tell me the essential must have perks for block?

Absolute must is quick reflexes though it is a little buggy with its slow time feature, but if you play at high difficulty then this perk is a must, otherwise elemental protection is pretty clutch vs boss level mages and ancient dragons.

all of them are good to be honest...personally I don't really care for deflect arrows, but it will lead to elemental protection which is good for some situations. But make sure you invest in the right side of the tree...bashing with your shield will stop an enemies attack which is very useful...

This is the last perk you can get with the block tree...I can't wait to get it

Definitely Shield Charge, amusing, and practical. Like a quickly re-usable FUS RO DAH, and handy for escaping a bunch of enemies.

It depends on which weapons you use.

If your going without a shield then i would suggest you get 5/5 improved block anything more than that is not really important its just flare. (get quick reflexes if you are playing on a hard difficulty)

If your using a shield then i would say to go down the left hand side of the tree. the rest isnt really that important.

I've got most all the block perks now and can honestly say I don't think the right side is worth it. Even with deadly bash the damage output of a power bash is relatively small. And if I really want to disarm a foe, there's a shout for that. I'd rather stick with the normal bash, which still interrupts a foe, but doesn't do damage. The left side however (plus quick reflexes) is golden! I'd recommend only one point in improved blocking (which gives you 20% better blocking), because the other 4 points only increase by 5% per point. It's much easier to find/enchant gear to give fortify block gains than spend those 4 perk points.

I have every single point in block except that one. I took it initially but re-loaded a save before I got it after playing with it for a while.

The most annoying perk you can get in blocking unless you're into the game slowing to a halt every 10 seconds.

It's not about the damage but about the stagger. And even then the power is quite okay. I've killed dragons using only power bashes.

Alright, I have a couple questions:
Is elemental protection and the left side worth it?
What does power bash do?
Does disarm and the like get annoying?
Is it worth it to get all five levels of the first perk?

Thanks! :tops:

can anyone tell me if the block perk quick reflexes (the slow time while blocking) works when you are using a single dagger or a single sword ?

and if the beginning + to block efficiency works when your block with a single dagger or a single sword and not using a shield?

I want to know cause i wish to play as a Rogue type using just 1 dagger and a bow and using sneak and melee primary with bow as a secondary weapon just to use when i have to.

1. Left side > right side
2. Power bash is the same thing as your normal bash, just more damage
3. The chance to disarm is too low :( it's not worth it
4. 5 points into Shield Wall is a must, because that's the whole point of having a shield ;)

You don't need a shield for Quick Reflexes to work. :)

Block runner is also very handy. It also let you move full speed while in stealth!
