Bloodmoon/Auroura/Werewolf hint?

Post » Wed Aug 10, 2011 11:49 pm

Maybe this is why they wanted to retake the picture... to make us see the moon and begin speculation.

Only to confirm werewolves aren't in the game.

In the wonderful Dunmer screen uploaded by Beth (for discussion about the picture, leave it to the several other threads littering the forum) we got a few tidbits to draw from. However, does this look like a bit of a nod towards the Bloodmoon hunt, and possible hinting of Werewolves being implemented? Lore wise being 4th era, it's entirely possible the hunt could begin.

I doubt it. It looks like it is the aurora borealis.

well the game's probably about to go gold. werewolves are in or they're not. but i think todd would've denied them by now if they weren't in. maybe he wants to surprise us  as for the bloodmoon, i don't think so that just looks like the moon masser in all it's glory.

He better surprise us. It would be a shame if they weren't in.

Unlike some other companies, Bethesda do listen to their fans.

I'm quite convinced that the skull door is the volkihar lair. I believe werewolves will be in, main game or DLC.

Why avampire clan? One that is rabid at that, and they say anyway in lore they live under neath frozen lakes. That door has to be DB, dont forget it asked riddles.

This topic merits its own post, to do otherwise would be hijacking the thread, but since there is no way to confirm it you may consider it my personal opinion.

1) DB's symbol is the hand, not a skull
2) There is no better answer to Music of life than "blood" flowing though veins
3) Door is found near a lake
4) DB is a "urban" organization, I will be disappointed if their Skyrim branch shows such little creativity and resorts to hiding in the wilderness.
5) What would be a viable implementation to the "live under a lake" thing? Unfortunately as much as we want it, i doubt TCLing though lake will happen. It will involve a door, one way or another.

Bloodmoon took place speficially in Solshteim, unless there was some unheard events during the Bloodmoon in Skyrim.

I know that the "Bloodmoon" is Sucunda but are you sure that the great Hunt only takes place in Solshteim? Werewolves seem to be favored by Hircine but I don't think that he would ignore the rest of his "children" and not have Hunts in other Provinces or other parts of the world, you know, a change of scenery, prey? It is a new era and for all we know The Great Hunt is yet to be had, but admittedly it would seem like a rehash of the expansion.

 First the new Evanescence song, then ghost wolves, and now this little piece of speculation...

:o My dreams are about to be crushed, aren't they? :(

Except the moon displayed looks like Secunda, and not Masser?

If Secunda is that big, I would hate to see how enormous Masser ends up being...

That is true. I also forgot having not played Oblivion in awhile that they drastically changed the look of Masser.

I am sure it took place only in Solshteim. Unless Hircine somehow got mad he was defeated and hosted a Great Hunt in his own realm.

"Korst Wind-Eye has told me more about the Bloodmoon Prophecy, and the signs that are foretold within. The fire from the lake of ice, the tide of dead horkers. Now the moon itself has turned blood red. He tells me that all that remains is the Hunter's Game."-Bloodmoon Journal.

"According to legend, the Hunter chooses his Prey from the ranks of Man. Who and how many he chooses varies by the era. Wind-Eye does not know what will happen in the coming days, but he fears the worst."

I think the signs are only based on the area, Solshteim. But then again, I could be wrong. It could be in Solshteim and other places where there are fire from lakes and dead Horkers.

"The first tells of Fire From the Eye of Glass. This we have seen on Lake Fjalding, though I had hoped it was the mere magic of the draugr lord. Next, the prophecy tells us of the Tide of Woe. Even now, our shores are lined with the corpses of the horkers, dead for a reason we cannot fathom. Finally, the prophecy tells us of the Bloodmoon, when the young moon itself runs red with the blood of the Hunter's prey. Look to the skies, Blodskaal. The third sign is upon us. Now we wait for the Hunter's Game."

:Hunter's Game:
"According to legend, it varies from era to era. Our Grandfathers' Grandfathers tell of a time when the Hunter and his Hounds preyed upon entire tribes of men. Taken to the Hunting Grounds, the men were hunted by the Hounds. The ones that died were the lucky--the survivors faced the Hunter himself. In another era, the Hunter took only a single man as his Prey. It is said if the Prey can last through the Bloodmoon, the Hunter returns to his demon realm for another era. We have only to await the Hunter's plan."

The moon has always been a red colour. The bloodmoon is a second smaller moon that is coated in red which is not present. So I don't think this picture shows us anything. If the OP even played Oblivion, he/she would know that the moon there was red. But it was not the bloodmoon.

Is that now wishful thinking because you might not really want a tattoo? At least the tattoo wont say "I LOVE JUSTIN BIEBER"

No..I have other tattoos...

"We’re fans of that stuff as well, and we’re currently messing with all that. I don’t want to commit to, ‘here are the things you can change into and what they’re like right now.’ Not because we’re not doing it, or not attempting to. I just don’t know honestly where that’s going to end up and how deep we’re going to get into that. We will try things, and if we don’t feel it’s helping the game, there are other areas we’d like to spend our time on in the game.”
-Todd Howard.

1) Will the character be able to change into certain creature?
Todd:We’ve done various things like that in our previous games, and it’s something that we probably won’t be talking about specifically on this one. Don’t read anything into that, we just prefer to not discuss this one. We’d like to leave that an open question until the game is out. "

We have three options:

A) Werewolves are in, but Bethesda doesn't want to say anything.

B) They are still working on werewolves/werecreatures, but they don't know how it's going to end up, they don't want to make any promises.

C) Werewolves/werecreatures are not included.

I have to agree with W & V on this one...As far as another Bloodmoon...I really don't see BGS doing that again, unfortunately...

I see an aura around the moon, I do nto see the moon as Bloodmoon.

I also keep hearing stuff about the Aurora Borealis, and wtf, I do not see http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://geology.com/nasa/aurora/aurora-borealis-curtains-alaska.jpg&imgrefurl=http://geology.com/nasa/aurora-borealis.shtml&h=499&w=750&sz=31&tbnid=CJ8nFAwq64HJIM:&tbnh=91&tbnw=137&prev=/search%3Fq%3Daurora%2Bborealis%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=aurora+borealis&docid=2c6XT4j27Ikr_M&hl=en&sa=X&ei=06tCTtGtE8WrsQKs5bSuCQ&sqi=2&ved=0CDYQ9QEwAQ anywhere in that screenie.

Yeah, the moon is Masser, which is http://images.uesp.net/b/b8/Masser_full.jpg. The aura is the top part of the Aurora Borealis, more commonly known as the Northern Lights.

I'd say it's not worth worrying about werewolves. Beth knows we want them, they'll get them in if they can. No sense getting stressed out about it.

Look at the aura hovering over the city. The Northern Lights aren't always that picture's color. They change.

It's Masser and it's halo around it. It's typical in Northern areas.

This look more like Secunda to me...Where the aura begins to fade, you can see the moon's true color...Which is blueish...Though during the great hunt it turns red, becoming the Bloodmoon. Northern lights would not envelope the moon, as it is to far away and the northern lights only accumulate in certain areas of the planet, not the atmosphere of moons or space. My guess is that this is Secunda in its "Bloodmoon" phase, the reddish aura signifying this. It's not Masser...Masser's surface is reddish-purple...almost like brimstone. I honestly think this is Secunda, Bloodmoon phase. Besides, Bethesda specifically added the moon in this pic for a reason...I think this is a nod towards werewolves.

However, the color can always change a little. It just depends on what pallet Beth decides to use.
While I personally do not think it's the Bloodmoon (though my previous excitement shows otherwise), I think Beth did put the moon in intentionally. The purpose either just showing off the moon/aurora or making us speculate with a possibility of a Bloodmoon.
