Bloodmoon/Auroura/Werewolf hint?

Post » Thu Aug 11, 2011 9:09 am

In the wonderful Dunmer screen uploaded by Beth (for discussion about the picture, leave it to the several other threads littering the forum) we got a few tidbits to draw from. However, does this look like a bit of a nod towards the Bloodmoon hunt, and possible hinting of Werewolves being implemented? Lore wise being 4th era, it's entirely possible the hunt could begin.

Don't see how it can be related to werewolves in any way. It's a dark elf thief in a city at night.

Well played. It's probly unintentional, but if it is the Bloodmoon, well, I forgive Bethesda for the whole Pickpocketing thing.

Werewolves are a must, but I don't think there will be another Bloodmoon for the sheer fact that it's already been done before.

Except note the colour inhabiting the moon? As described "The third, and final sign, is the Bloodmoon, which is when the moon turns red from the blood of the Hunter's Prey" is very relevant, and fitting.

The hunt changes every era. They can certainly change it up.

Moon was the exact same color in the Dunmer pic in Oblivion, so this means nothing.

However, it's very likely that werewolves are in Skyrim anyway, due to it... being Skyrim, you know, and not because of the color of the moon being the same as it always has been.

True, they can change it up. But the fact is that the picture shows a full Masser. Masser is always red, even before the Bloodmoon and after. The moon that turns red during the Bloodmoon is http://images.uesp.net/thumb/5/5b/Secunda_full.jpg/200px-Secunda_full.jpg the child moon.

"Finally, the prophecy tells us of the Bloodmoon, when the young moon itself runs red with the blood of the Hunter's prey."

"These two moons don't really contribute anything to any of the elder scrolls games except for the fact that Secunda becomes the BloodMoon (Turning red) in the BloodMoon expansion. "

Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW72LSghafI

Watch the video(Don't mind the different language) and see that it's Secunda that turns red.

Except the moon displayed looks like Secunda, and not Masser? Note the colour is not in part with the actual moon, but overlayed almost perfectly in position over the moon. Look near the bottom and you'll see the actual colour.

Take note:

If Bethesda does have another Bloodmoon, where Hircine and his wonderful hounds come out to play...I will get a tattoo of a deerskull over the Spear of Bitter Mercy, all entwined by the Totem Of Claw And Fang on my right shoulder, and post photos of it on this site for all to see...

But they probably won't...

More like a wishful thinking I'm afraid. I'd like there to be werewolfs, but that screenshot has noting to do with them.

It's Masser. I am 99.9% certain it is not a Bloodmoon. Honestly, if they were going to have a BLOODMOON in Skyrim, do you really think they'd blow the surprise in a screenshot like that? Especially when they've held the secret of werewolves or not so close to them this whole time?

It's just average everyday normal Masser, one of Nirn's two moons.

Well, Masser does have an aura around it. But it can just be the Aurora Borealis itself. By the way, I'm just playing with the thought. I'm positive Beth won't tell us something like this so soon.

We can hope. They retook the screenshot many times, so anything that's in it was 100% planned to be shown.

Bloodmoon took place speficially in Solshteim, unless there was some unheard events during the Bloodmoon in Skyrim.

It's a really really really long shot, but what if this Dunmer was on Solshteim?
I HIGHLY doubt it, but... you never know...

Todd didn't really comment on the Werewolves, well he did mention it has been done before, but he didn't deny their inclusion in Skyrim or possible future inclusion.

Is that now wishful thinking because you might not really want a tattoo? At least the tattoo wont say "I LOVE JUSTIN BIEBER"

I think its planted a seed of doubt along with the yellow eyed Nord in furs screenshot. I am suspicious but not convinced. I don't want to get my hopes up.

"We’re fans of that stuff as well, and we’re currently messing with all that. I don’t want to commit to, ‘here are the things you can change into and what they’re like right now.’ Not because we’re not doing it, or not attempting to. I just don’t know honestly where that’s going to end up and how deep we’re going to get into that. We will try things, and if we don’t feel it’s helping the game, there are other areas we’d like to spend our time on in the game.”
-Todd Howard.

1) Will the character be able to change into certain creature?
Todd:We’ve done various things like that in our previous games, and it’s something that we probably won’t be talking about specifically on this one. Don’t read anything into that, we just prefer to not discuss this one. We’d like to leave that an open question until the game is out. "

We have three options:

A) Werewolves are in, but Bethesda doesn't want to say anything.

B) They are still working on werewolves/werecreatures, but they don't know how it's going to end up, they don't want to make any promises.

C) Werewolves/werecreatures are not included.

Maybe this is why they wanted to retake the picture... to make us see the moon and begin speculation.
