Bloodmoon.esm Crashing CS - Retail Version

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 3:39 pm

So, everytime I boot up the Construction Set and load Bloodmoon.esm (with any combination of any other plugins/masters, such as Morrowind.esm, Tribunal.esm and Bloodmoon.esm, or just Morrowind.esm and Bloodmoon.esm and etc.) it just shuts down.

I've tried it with both the AllowYesToAll command and clicking through all the errors individually, and every time it gets to the 'loading dialogue' comment at the bottom of the screen, it crashes. Well, not really even a crash, there's no hanging or anything, it just closes.

I've heard of the Steam version having problems with Bloodmoon.esm, but this is the retail GOTY version. Never done this on any previous installs, either.

In what order did you install the game and expansions? Correct order is Mw > Tb > Bm.

That order.

Also tried reinstalling the CS, but it's still crashing.

EDIT: Fixed. I dunno' what the hell was going on, but on the CS data files selection screen I noticed it read (in the bottom right hand corner),

 File Version: 1.30 (for Bloodmoon.esm)Current Version: 1.20

which seemed a bit odd. Anyway, had an archived back-up of my vanilla Morrowind install (plus expansions) from a while back, and decided to see if the CS in there was working. It was, and the Current Version on that one read 1.30, same as the Bloodmoon.esm File Version. Copied the Construction Set.exe from that archived install to my current one and it's fine.

To be honest, having trouble working out how I managed to have a wrong version of the CS installed, considering the GOTY disk only comes with the latest version. AND I reinstalled it after the first time it crashed.
