blue screen crash

Post » Wed Jan 13, 2010 3:54 pm

Things were mostly okay, until suddenly the picture got really fraggled looking, with weird colors, then I got a blue screen error.
Later, I tried reloading my saved game, and I got a blue screen error as soon as it loaded.
I've been playing Oblivion on Win 7 for about 5 months now, and it's been ok. I have an X1900 graphics card, and my system specs are quite high.
Is this there any chance this could be caused by a mod?

There is always a chance. Did you change anything before you started experiencing the crash?

Need to know what the stop code is, and what file the blue screen is whining about. From the sounds of it, video driver issue, or, overheating...... Do you know what driver version you are using?

I guess ATI is no longer updating drivers for the X series cards. The version they have is for Vista. I don't know... Sometimes I can hear my fan pretty loud when I'm playing. Maybe this is overheating?

The existing thread about CTDs probably is the only message thread that was required for these probably inter-related events.

Your Video card is dying. Open the case, clean everything, make sure the fans are working.
