Do bobbleheads raise stats?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 7:22 am

We know bobbleheads are back in the game. Saw one for Science and another for Charisma.

I wonder if in this game, collecting the S.P.E.C.I.A.L bobbleheads will raise the specific attribute by a single point like in Fallout 3. Was one of the reasons you should never max any S.P.E.C.I.A.L right at the start.

And how would the Science bobblehead work now with the perk system? In Fallout 3 it would add 10 points to your Science skill. Could it advance your Science rank by a point? But what if you have not even advanced the Intelligence attribute enough to be able to take perks in Science?

I imagen it gives a free rank, even if you dont normally meet the requirements, or they work like the magazines and give something outside of the chart, but instead of a new perk they give a special rank star that does something extra to the perk.

It's a pretty safe bet that the SPECIAL ones will add a point, but the skill/perk ones are less clear. Maybe they'll give you a rank in the perk even if you don't qualify for it, or maybe the bobble heads will just sit in your inventory until you reach the required SPECIAL level.

Or, perhaps the non-SPECIAL bobble heads have their own perks that aren't on the chart. We know there is a Barter bobble head, and in the new perk system, there isn't a perk called Barter on the chart.

Either you display them on the bobblehead stand, or you gain a Perk level/Special point by eating them.

Actually I think it was the Barter bobblehead I saw before and not the Science one.....I got muddled up. Not sure if there is a Science bobblehead in Fallout 4.

I hope it's more like "Pick one perk for free!" rather than just +1 that attribute. In Fallout 3, I managed to max out my Strength before finding the Strength-bobblehead. That was somewhat annoying.

Doubt it, would kinda ruin the thematic connection between a bobblehead and what it represents.

Strength bobblehead was one of the easiest to get in Fallout 3 at a very early stage in the game, as it was in a Megaton house.

Endurance Bobblehead on the other hand was right in the middle of a dark Deathclaw Sanctuary! the Energy Weapons one could only be got at a very late stage in the main quest.

I guess thats another factor needed to be taken into consideration in Fallout 4. How many of them will be easy to find after getting out of Vault 111?

Well some keen eyed folks already spotted one, it's in the same room you talk to Preston.

Yeah, that's a good point. A special perk related to that attribute then?

Exceeeept it was in Lucas Simms's house, which was locked. So entering it was kinda weird for goody-two-shoes-character. I found that and the Endurance one with the help of Google.

Actually if you wait around his house, I think around midnight or afternoon, the door would actually be unlocked and green. So it wouldn't count as trespassing.

There is the Cap Collector perk which serves the same function, but I think Bobbleheads will have their own perks just like the magazines. Since if I already have Cap Collector I at level 10, then getting Barter would increase Cap Collector to level II. Obviously, this is problematic since Cap Collector II should be available at level 23 not level 10.

I must have missed that. In hindsight (and after playing Skyrim), that makes sense having the door locked when he's patrolling during the day.

apparently the bobbleheads might give you special perks this time just like collecting the magazines do except that you only need 1 bobblehead while youd need the entire series of magazines for the magazine perk.

Advice for the thirsty:

1. Don't max out any SPECIAL stats at the start.

2. Don't eat yellow snow... :stare:

not all that important this time cus with unlimited levels you could eventually max all special.. and bobbleheads will apparently give you special perks instead this time instead of upgrading stats (since stats can be upgraded by spending the skill points or whatever)

I bet if you get a charisma bobble head and you already have maxed charisma than you get a free perk point...this being the same for all bobble heads. As for the other bobble heads probably just give you a perk on that catagory or a unique perk only from bobble heads.

there might just not be special point bobbleheads.. one we know of is barter bobblehead (which isnt even one of the perks) so they might just give you additional perks that are only kinda related to the stats.

At least this way they would never be useless since they would be separate and so you would never find one after maxing it since they offer unique perks.

We know that the Agility, Charisma, and Barter Bobblehead exists due to the E3 Settlement Crafting video. They could just be decorations and part of an achievement, but Fallout 3 fans expect Bobbleheads to affect their stats.
