I'd like to see dismemberment, but not to the extreme of F3.

So, whichever option would be appropriate for that.

I'd prefer more blood, than body parts everywhere.

if they would implement fallouts version of gore, do you think they would still use VATs

I'd rather have more blood than chopping off bodyparts, because it looks so over the top, especially in F3.

You should edit your options. A lot of people want moderate dismemberment and all the games you have described have exaggerated or horrific gore. I personally want dismemberment on the same scale as Dark Messiah.

Honestly I think they add things to concept art just as the artist's touch. If I was a concept artist everything would be surrounded by lasers and explosions and all of my art would be accompanied by Rush music. I would tell people to ignore everything besides the main focal point because the rest is added just for me.

That being said I hope there is something, as long as it is rare and tasteful.

No this is no clue and the pc more than likely can't dismember bodies. It was the EXECUTIONER. They were trying to make him look mean and evil...you know like an executioner.

Oblivion was quite bloody actually (more or less like half-life as you posted). I would prefer some gashes and wounds on bodies, and maybe some mild dismemberment here and there

I'd rather see cuts, bruises and more blood than dismemberment.
I've never really been a huge fan of limbs flying around, especially when it's not very realistic.

If it's done well, I wont mind some mild dismemberment, but i'd rather see effort going into wounds and cuts than extreme gore.

Any chance you could elaborate on the different games in your OP for those of us who haven't played them all? No idea what I would be voting for otherwise :P

Yeah. It is extraordinarily difficult to remove limbs and heads; that executioner, if we're going by realism, probably needed two or three strikes to remove that head as likely as he needed one. Now imagine you're in combat, where the chances of hitting the same spot more than once like that are slim to none; dismemberment should be an extremely rare event if at all. So it's basically adding in more gore that I don't feel there needs to be more of (Oblivion was probably close to perfect, in my opinion), and on top of that you can't even claim realism.

I'm hoping for L4D2 style gore where you can take limbs off but also visually damage the chest and such so you can actually see the zombie's guts.

Of-course toned down for swords, so instead of a crater in his chest, make it deep gashes etc

Dismemberment would be a nice touch. I always found it quite odd that I could slash a person 25 times with a sword and all it would do would make them fall over and draw a bit of blood. I would assume with the finishing moves Beth is developing, we'll see appropriate death animations to coincide with where the final blow is. (ie, a slit throat, etc.) At least I hope so.

On the other side of the fence, technically speaking, if I smash someone on the top of the head with a warhammer, I would expect to see their skull bust open and throw their brain all over the place. This in effect makes the notion of having a pool of health kind of irrelevent, but I would at the very minimum like to see NPC death animations react to my final blow in a violent, realistic way -- without the unrealistic "hit someone in the back with a golf driver and watch their legs fly off" extremism that FO3 had.

I doubt they'll add dismemberment. If the PC can knock off limbs it'd only be fair/realistic if NPC's can too. Consider the main enemy of Skyrim, the dragon. No other creature I can think of would be better at severing limbs than a dragon,(big nasty pointy teeth) and if your character lost their arms I guess it's game over huh?

With the executions they've put in I can see some arterial blood sprays happening but that'll most likely be about as graphic as it gets.

The executioner with a severed head is just a piece of artwork, you know exactly who he is when you first see him.

Cuts, bruises, and scars would actually be more preferred for me over blatant dismemberment. If Bethesda can make it work for Skyrim, then sure.

I voted "Something Like Fallout 3", but that's because it was the closest to what I wanted. There should be dismemberment, but not as ridiculous as it was in Fallout 3. I don't want to hit somebody with a war axe and have their body explode everywhere. I mean it would be hilarious the first few times, but after a while it would just get stupid.

More than in OB. Less ridiculous than in FO3. Although it's suitable for Fallout and it provided a few good laughs the first few times. Wounds, cuts, bruises, streaming blood... A flying bit of flesh every now and then should do too, especially after full impacts by warhammers or two-handed axes. More ketchup please. :whoops:

I'd be fine with what they did in Oblivion because I don't play the game to see chunks of body parts flying all over the place. To me that's just a pointless waste of graphics processing energy, and I won't whine about it if it's in the game, but I hope it's optional.

It wouldn't have to be game over; swords might be difficult to manage but you'd still have dragon shouts.
