body morphing

Post » Sun Apr 10, 2011 11:05 pm

With body morphing, technically, players DO have complete control over their characters' looks...depending on how players choose their characters' stat progression, their character will look a certain way. But I gather that most people want to control their characters' looks regardless of their stats...like making a mage with a strength of 20 have huge muscles, or an uber warrior with 100 strength wielding swords bigger than himself to look slender and fragile. Well, pardon me if that seems a little...silly.

unfortunately if you had a male or female character in Fable you had that annoying hulking body. There are plenty of very strong lean people.

Yes. *shrug*

There are ways to add a smidge of realism without going overboard. No, I don't want my char to look like she's on steroids. But if all she does all day is wield a huge claymore, she shouldn't look like a slender lily. It's about as irritating as the skimpy female armours we see in some games.

Now, while I'm all for it, that's only if Bethesda manages to handle it. We got our share of problems with faces going south after becoming a vampire.

Perhaps the mage took a bulk enhancement potion so that he/she would look more intimidating on the roads, and the warrior, vice verca. Luckily with single player, you'll never have to know what the last dragonborn looks like on someone else's computer. :D

Either way though, I am sure there will be a mod within three months that fixes it for the other party. (whichever party that may be)

Yeah. See, Fable did it wrong by just making everyone gain the same ridiculous muscles. If BGS did it, I would think it would be more natural...a strong woman doesn't have the same muscles as a strong man, unless she's on steroids or something. And different body types gain muscles differently...a wood elf probably wouldn't get the big bulgy muscles of an orc, but would be petite with lean, well-defined physique. Ah well, not like BGS would even consider doing anythin like this at this point in the development. Maybe for the next game.

And about vampire faces...Apparently vampires in TES = evil mimes.

This I would not mind so much.

In the Game Informer issue, a caption on page 51 says, "players will still be able to craft their hero from 10 unique races as the game begins; facial and body features are entirely customizable."

This statement tells me that the players will have the ability to control what their characters look like, not attributes. I certainly do NOT want my leveling to determine what my character looks like. I really hate the way Fable does it.

I really don't think that they did this wrong in fable 1. The problem is not that the look you will have with maximum strengt/fighting skill will be ugly, the problem is that you can't have a thin or fat look when you are in good shape. I think the propper person to determine the look of the character is the player.

I like having complete control over how my caracter looks that is why I voted no to morphing. I just want them to give lots of options to create different body types then leave those body types alone, that way if I want one of my caracters to be an overweight Nord with a beer belly who spends most of his time in bars I can

I don't really know what you mean by "like Fable", but I know what you mean by change from attributes.

While it makes sense, people who play mages don't want their character to look like Conan The Barbarian in terms of muscle just because they want to carry loads of stuff. It's best that people can alter the looks in the character creation and let it stay like that.

Or maybe I don't mind so much cause my Imperial assassin gal would end up having a musculature anyway. :lmao:

No, seriously, not even males end up horrible-beefy, without some serious chemicals anyway. Can't ditch the idea, not if the only argument is that one game apparently doesn't know what realistic means.

Ah well, not like BGS would even consider doing anythin like this at this point in the development. Maybe for the next game.

Nope, they wouldn't. Let's see how they will handle the customizable char creation first. With their "uncanny" backstory, babysteps are definitely in order on that record.

Still hope for minor body morphing, though. I maintain that scars and their fading - or any other temporary physical alteration, like frost marks or even rosy cheeks in cold - and having them heal, would be awesome, if they kept it to light touches.

And about vampire faces...Apparently vampires in TES = evil mimes.

 Plus I went bloodsvcker once in Oblivion, had to console-in the character creation menu to fix my face when I reverted. It was a mess.

how is it dumb? how is it dumb at all? did you even read the op?

i know this is a game- but in real life- do you actively decide your complete skeletal, muscular makeup or fatness?

exactly, it's a game, not real life, and if your like me, then you play to lift the shackles of life,

so I'd like to be in complete control

Dont want body morphing, but the addition of scars over time would be fine in my book, as I dont try for pretty boy characters or play female characters, but if I did, a chick with scars would suit me fine, as I like me women to play rough too

I'm a pretty boy, fair faced lady type of player...so the scares would not suit me UNLESS they faded over time.

Another learning from Fable, scars don't look so cool when you can't decide if you want to have, the place, the shape and the size.

Quoting myself from a similar thread:
Not something I would want. I strong person doesn't necessarily look as buff as another person will equal strength
Plus, I don't think it is something that could be done well enough to make the majority happy, since there are so many factors to consider.

That guy on GI screenshots doesn't look high level (on screens where he's got just a horned helmet and a simple axe) but his arms are enormously muscular. So it doesn't look like the body depends on attributes. Just as i wanted

Or, as has been insinuated, you can adjust the physique of your character when you create them

I am pretty sure Bethesda announced that when creating your character you can choose more than just hair but body type etc etc probably through the sliders

No, I don't think it can work well. It was in Fable because your looks were supposed to determine what kind of person you were. It's not realistic for serious RPGs. You can't tell how powerful someone is just by looking at them.

Attributes were removed though, right?

Gah this rumor again...
They haven't confirmed that, and its almost unthinkable to do so...

I wouldn't mind the body morphing some. But it may conflict with mods, and some people may want to stay the same...

They can't have bodymorphing all the modders would scream when their anime doll grows muscles.
