Body Size Determines Action Pips

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 8:57 pm

So I have been seeing alot of people want to play light body type and of course the appeal is that you can get places that only other lights can get to, and can move faster and are smaller. I too was going to play as a light body type once I could but I just found out that there is another attribute to body size, that you have less action pips then the bigger body types, therefore if some one was a light medic you heal less people then your counterparts with the bigger body types. With this info I am leaning towards the medium body type for the game, does any one else feel that way with this info or did everyone already know this?

Edit: As stated by badman who is a Community Relations Manager "All three body types now have the same amount of default supply pips, but there are numerous ways to affect the length and recharge rate of your supply meter." So basically Body size does not determine Action Pips.

It's been known for a pretty long time now and I'm still going to be a light medic to start with/as main class.

Well this is news to me, but overall it seems a reasonable addition to the game, just thing about if there was a light soldier who had everything the heavy soldier had plus his natural attributes towards getting out of a fight and bombarding the heavy from a vantage point, would that make the game fair? Not really.

Wait, can you pick you size right away or do you have to wait till lv 5?

In the beginning you pick size, appearance (for both factions), and weapons' attachments.

I was under the impression that you could increase action pips/health/whatever else by levelling though right? Obviously this would come as a tradeoff, but I would imagine nobody wants to play stuck with the skinny guy's low health.

That would be too unbalanced. You can only get more health pips through either Health Buffs or acquiring Command Posts.

You have to level up till level 5, but after that you can change bodytype when you're not ingame.

Found this on this link:http://www.ps3attitude.com/new/2010/11/brink-diaries-classes-upgrades-body-types-explained/

If you want to be skinny all the time, but you don’t want to run out of power, you can really focus on making sure your power meter is as long as any medium guy’s. So you don’t have to suffer. Because you have chosen that, you might not be able to buy the operative’s ability to hack enemy turrets (to use them as a remote control device) or fire at enemies from safety. There are so many abilities: it’s a long list.

I really hope that every thing you guys are saying is correct especially the level 5 thing because I'm the type of person that will play until I get that last piece of special something. :chaos:

You only have the Medium body type available at the begining then you have to level up fo unlock Heavy and Light. Think as having to use the Medium for a few levels as basic training, then you get the more advanced stuff.

I too am leaning more towards the medium body size, simply for balance. Though in the end I've no doubt I'll have a play around with all of them... don't want to miss out on exploring or being a bullet sponge!

Yep, there's always a pros and cons of each sizes. However I'll stick with medium as well.

So I'm sort of new to the specifics of Brink, I've been watching all the videos and reading some stuff on the site but I'm still a noob. Anyways what exactly are action pips, what do they do.

So basically they help you do stuff better specific to what class you are.

They're basically energy bars that limit the amount of things you do (ie. Give out health, buff health, revive, give out ammo, buff weapons, and it limits what abilities you can do)

And on a side note it takes double the pips if you heal yourself or buff your own weapon.
