Body types

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 8:17 pm

It would be cool if there were different body types in Skyrim. Oblivion had people that were different heights but everyone was the same build. It would be cool if you could change how fat, thin, or muscular. Then you can make all the muscle-bound man-ladies your heart desires!!

I would like to change more than just fat, thin, muscular. There's more differences than that.

If I recall correctly they confirmed body types in the Game Informer magazine article. They definitely show screenshots of a buff burly conan-esque Nord and a thing wimpy Dunmer. I KNOW (hope) that won't be the only Dunmer body type. Give me a moment and I will edit my post after looking at the article again.

Edit* Hmm, after skimming through the article a few times I haven't found anything that mentions body types. I could have sworn they talked about being able to edit your body... I'll keep looking.

Edit2* Huzzah!! I found it. On page 51 they say "Players will be able to craft their hero from 10 unique races as the game begins; facial and body features are entirely customizable."

Yes I agree! I just wanted to keep the post short.

Muscle-bound man ladies with freckles, skin tags, and freakishly long arms for all!

From the screens in the GI article the dudes look the same, IMO

I'm guessing you can change your body like you can your face instead of just picking different things like Muscular, fat, etc.

That's what I gather as well. See my edited post above.

Not true... the dark elf NPC looks much more lean and slender than the player character.

They have already confirmed that you will be able to adjust height/weight/body type in Skyrim. Finally, they added something that should have been in the game since Morrowind.

I don't want to sound like a pervert but I really hope they have different briast and hip choices. I like the athletic look, but it would be cool to have a busty female a la Red Sonja. I played as a female breton warrior mage and it took over an hour in create a character to make an attractive woman. I just want to have a gal as pretty as my GF...she like watching me play.

Have you ever seen a Nord only 1.70 metres tall (5' 7")? That would be funny, but maybe realistic too, seeing as in real life just because 1 race is known to be tall, doesn't mean everyone is.

All the body altering things are good to me, but are you 100% sure we can change the height of our PC?
Thats an important one for me.

That is not a bad idea.Think of being an male with a big belly. He could have advantages in hand-to-hand combat (like a sumo ringer). Or maybe a small and thin female who is able to get into places that would stay hidden to bigger characters.

Would be lovely to have a slider for height, fat, muscles and perhaps some other ones... No matter how they do it, I really hope we get some realistic choices, I don't want the skinniest of skinniest to still have a perfect 8 pack

I'm glad there's more option for customisation - it's insane how long I fuss over the character creation  I bet there will be more than a few characters that end up looking like they've walked out of a "dead or Alive" game though :P

If that comes to reality you can also think of other things that have influence on your body and shape. Like drinking too much beer or mead could make your belly grow faster and slow you down or you have less endurance or stamina. Or you are going to stay healthy by only eating fruits and vegetables which will increase you ability to withstand diseases.

I want body sculpting ala Eve Online, rather than only some sliders. But most of all I want height and width to matter. I think we run slower in OB when using console to adjust height, just it should also affect our ability to squeeze into small cracks (rather than dumb old "wooden door") for dungeon shortcuts, and if we are able to reach that cliff or distant ledge etc.

I think that the body customization option will be really cool. Usually Nords are tall and really muscular; Elves tend be more slender and slim. I play as a Dunmer assassin in my second play through. For my first play through I'll probably play as Nord barbarian.

I hope the body types can be varied. In GI the warrior they show is a bad ass and he makes a perfect warrior. However, after my first playthrough as my warrior I'd like to try a rogue or mage and it would seem a bit strange for them to be as stacked as my warrior.

Maybe your strength and agility play into the body type? But then that can be annoying at times. Maybe you don't want to pack on more muscle or become leaner.

Yeah, I sort of hope they just totally rip off Eve's character creator. I can spend hours building my character on it.

I hope so that's my dream with the engine, Full Customization of the body although I hope you can't make it too unrealistic. I don't know if I would want to change the Height of the characters. Could you image a 7 ft Male Bosmer towering over everybody.

I think that having control over the look of the body on your caracter will add a lot to the game as it will make each caracter more unique qnd believable
