On Boethiah's Summoning Day

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 10:13 am

Is it Peryite's low place in Oblivion, that endears him with Mundus and the impetus for the most radical change?

Maybe.

Although he does have other stuff in common with Akatosh then just looking like a dragon. They also both have spheres dealing with order. Time is a form of order (hence why Auriel is the soul of Anuiel, who is Order), and "Peryite, whose sphere is the ordering of the lowest order of The Oblivion."

Also, "Ruptga was so big that he was able to place the stars in the sky so that weaker spirits might find their way easier."
"Ordering of the lowest order" vs guiding and "keeping track of" the weaker/lesser spirits. I think it's at least a potential connection, plus it says that Peryite used to be an ehlnofey (if I'm reading that right).

And just for kicks, they also both have seven letters in their names.

You touch on a closer (potential) relation to Akatosh than I even realized. I think it can be said, all the Princes are enamored with Mundus, for the question I asked. Are they capable of the Psijic Endeavor, within themselves? Lorkhan was not the first spirit to see the Tower, Vivec teaches. The Lords of Misrule still wonder what to make of her, and they live at least some of their eternity in this quest.

Stasis asks merely for itself, which is nothing. Since Shivering Isles, nobody's said much about Jyggalag. Has he gone back to nothing, to the stasis of Anui-el, or are there now 17 Princes? Has something happened in the Wheel to open a space for him?

""Accounts of the Middle Dawn are the province of the Empire of Men, and proof of the deceit that call themselves the Aedra. Eight stars fell on Tamriel, one for each iniquity that Lorkhan made clear to the world. Veloth read these signs, and he told Boethiah, who confirmed them, and he told Mephala, who made wards against them, and he told Azura, who sent ALMSIVI to steer the True Folk clear of harm. "

Could this mean that before the Middle Dawn the Aedra were not the Aedra?
That other spirits fulfilled their roles?

"Y, numbered seven, that times the wise"

18. The Egg, or Six times the Wise.
Cant find anything else on that but my gut tells me there is something there.

Before the first Dawn even. The Middle Dawn just reiterates the point.

Not so much other spirits. Rather lies-of-spirits have taken over.

The Scripture of the Wheel, First:

'The Spokes are the eight components of chaos, as yet solidified by the law of time: static change, if you will, something the lizard gods refer to as the Striking. That is the reptile wheel, coiled potential, ever-preamble to the never-action.'

Second:

'They are the lent bones of the Aedra, the Eight gift-limbs to SITHISIT, the wet earth of the new star our home. Outside them is the Aurbis, and not within. Like most things inexplicable, it is a circle. Circles are confused serpents, striking and striking and never given leave to bite. The Aedra would have you believe different, but they were givers before liars. Lies have turned them into biters. Their teeth are the proselytizers; to convert is to place oneself in the mouth of falsehood; even to propitiate is to be swallowed.

Exactly what I needed before Skyrim. This thread is great.

Any thoughts on the title of this thread? Any deeper meaning to it or just a reference for us to try to piece together Chimere's recollection of time?

Thread was created on 03 November 2011, which on the Tamriel Calendar is roughly the 2nd of Sun's Dusk; The summoning date of Boethiah.

And yes; this is exactly what I want to read before Skyrim. So good.

Is your forum time set right. It was posted on the 2nd, which is the Summoning day.

Wow, that went completely over my head. Thanks for pointing that out. Now, let me rephrase my question.

Does anyone feel there is any significance to why it was posted on this date?

I'll have a look at my settings and check - I'm actually based in Australia so we're 12+ hours ahead, at least.

I don't. Maybe because it's the closest summoning day to the 11th, and the discussion was dominated by the Daedra and Chimere's return from Oblivion.

Boethiah is the prince of what?

Wow, I missed that completely.

Also not sure if its of any significance but Tal Marog Ker's letters seem to be sent on summoning days too.

I have a notion the triads are united in a secret or hidden power, the invisible gate, and the gate is the missing place Talos fills. He unites the three and all in One. Am I warm?

@ Merlin This implies they've used the Princes to communicate, as each summoning day belongs to them.

This is why I think Mankar was telling the truth about Shor. Vivec is kinda saying the same thing.

Well, I liked it in any case, and it does put forward a lot of ideas, especially the thing with Talos being a safeguard against the continuation of the cycle, considering the information on Talos worship in Skyrim and what happens when gods are forgotten.

As for who the realityland author or authors are, I haven't a clue, but I sincerely hope that this is by a Bethesda writer of past or present ([censored] it, or of future, that'd be cool too) and is deliberately put out to provide lorefodder as we wait for Skyrim.

Its interesting to note that if you view all posts by Kama Fyr youll find she has been posting little things that reference this all along, certainly before this thread was posted.

About the current state of the Aedra, yes. About their state before creation they disagree.
