My Book Collection

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 2:47 am

From the very beginning I've been writing down the names of each and every book I come across in Skyrim. I'm probably two-thirds of the way through the main quest, half way through the Dark Brotherhood, and finished with the Thieves Guild, plus a fairly significant number of side quests completed.

My current list consists of 190 unique books (not including any kind of personal journals or notes found along the way) and I have a chest in my house with 146 of those books. I've been reading a few here and there, but I'm mainly focusing on obtaining as near to a complete collection as possible.

When I feel my collection is significant enough, and when the Creation Kit is finally released, I will mod in my own house with a library wing to proudly display my collection.

PS: Soooo happy they've added the ability to automatically stock bookshelves! Now we just need some kind of target dummies or mannequins to display armor sets.

I didn't know you could auto stock bookshelves! Rats! Now I need to go and get all those unique books I've been passing up.

See in Oblivion I horded chests and chests of stuff, book included. When I started Skyrim I vowed never to repeat that so don't bother with books and the like. This changes everything though, if there is a point to collecting them, ie you can actually display them and not have to store them in a chest then I'll do it by jove!

I'm only missing a few. I pick up all books take them back to my house and check them against the ones I own. Then sell the ones I don't need for profit.

Yep, and it's exceedingly easy. Just "open" a bookcase, drop them in like you would a chest, and bam, they all line up in a neat little row. Space is somewhat limited to only about a dozen, and for some reason the bookshelves in my house only utilize the top shelf while leaving the bottom one empty. Still, it was a pleasant surprise. Just need to find a mod to use both shelves or even make a big, tall bookcase and I'm all set.

I've found you can use the bottom shelf by selecting the lower left corner of the bookshelf. Hope this helps.

Hey bros, just want to touch on a couple things...

First, there ARE armor mannequins and weapon racks you can populate.

Second, try selecting the bottom shelf. It works too!

I really enjoy these new additions. It'll make having a house with a large library a blast!
