Book of Earache: no go

So I was using eXcalibr Ammo and eXcalibr Munitions Shop for a while (because they're quite fun, and I likes me some new guns), with FWE, MMM, EVE, WMK and a bunch of other stuff - no worries there; no crashes, nothing.

But then I saw this nifty "update" for both of them, all in one, and decided to try it out. Aaaand... it won't work. Not with a new Merged Patch, nor with a fresh Bashed Patch... nor even both.

The problem is, I can't even get to the main menu. The game starts up, but no menu options appear, no matter how long I wait. Also, I seem to be short one mouse pointer. Very annoying, suffice it to say.

Anyone got some advice, tips, relevant experiences, or whatever, that might help me get all of this playing together nicely? If it will, that is. And yes, I do have the WMK patch installed, and everything is updated to the latest version, btw.

did you remove EVERYTHING that it says to remove in the readme? it's very specific that if you dont remove all the old modules it wont work.

post your load order, maybe i can figure it out by seeing that, also did you install it manually or through fomod, and do you have the latest version? (4.4)

Will do - there might even be other errors there, for all I know. But anyway, FOMM and 4.4, yep.

hmm, i cant find anything that wouldn't work, considering my load order is kinda of the same. try removing anything that isn't FOIP'd and xcal. perhaps its some other mod not playing nicely with xcal universe. also out of curiosity, where did you get your EVE - FWE - WMK patch?

I just... don't know which one. :( It's likely to be a large mod, like FACE, Canterbury Commons Interiors Embiggened, or Big Town Overhaul. FACE, perhaps?

Now I'll have to go looking through all of them, in FO3Edit, the GECK or whatever else, and try to figure out the best bet. Or I can add one at a time of course - that might be the easiest way.

start with what you think might be causing it then work from there, if it doesnt turn out to be that mod, turn it back on in case some weird combination of mods isnt working. i wouldn't think anything that alters interiors would do it though.

And yes, it was one of those three: Big Town Overhaul, of all things. :huh:

'll have a look through it when I get a chance - no idea right now why it and BoE shouldn't work together. Or, those plus FWE and co., anyway. :shrug: It'll be interesting to find out, when I do. But for now, at least it seems like the game it playable once more. Yay! :twirl:

I needed to make a clean install after uninstalling Book of Earache.... due to the same problem the first poster mentions.... upon removing or disabling the files of this mod causes that....
