Book of Eli

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 1:26 am

Is it just me? Or does the movie "The Book Of Eli" resemble Fallout so much? When i first saw the previews to that movie I thought it was "Fallout the movie" or something. Almost everything that takes in that movie is things that take place in the game. Especially when everytime he kills somebody he searches them to see what they have. Even the color and contrast of the film is like Fallout.

Its a good movie. Watch it and let me know your thoughts.

It's a crap movie (/opinion) and the only thing they have in common are: it's post-apocalyptic and there's sand.
Just cause it take place after the bombs, or whatever happened in that film, doesn't mean it's instantly fallout.

what about when he travels to a old abandon house to sleep? you do that in the game.. or when he puts his old iPod on.. it kinda resembles the radio! what about when he goes to one of the Fallout like towns and goes to one of the merchants and trades some of his stuff for clean water and to get something of his repaired? thats just like Fallout!

Since when is finding shelter, listening to music, getting clean water, and getting something that's broken repaired exclusive to Fallout?

The Book of Eli is very much like Fallout 3, there is no denying it. I actually thought that it was a good film, even with the bible aspect. Religion is a powerful force in times when people have no hope. I'm an atheist, and I enjoyed it.

It was a good movie in my opinion. I definitely agree with you as well that there are similarities between Fallout and The Book of Eli.

Just cause it resembles Fallout 3's gameplay does not mean the movie is like Fallout.

Oh. So if X is like Y, then X not like Y? That makes sense. The OP was just saying how Fallout and The Book of Eli resemble each other. It's not like he was suggesting that it was a carbon copy.

By the way, what's with all the hate for the movie?

The critics tore that game to pieces when it came out.

Well it doesn't live up to it's name and who in the hell would want to pretend to have a second life? Seriously? You want to waste your actual life, pretending to have a life?

I thought the movie was standard post-apoc fare. The sets did look a lot like the Capital Wasteland, though.

I thought the movie did really well with the technical and art direction. Very pretty and well-shot. My personal opinion is that the dialog wasn't very good and the plot was heavy-handed, preachy, and contrived. There were a few nuggets of coolness, but not enough to save it. I really wanted to like the movie and I tried really hard, but I ended up feeling like it was a C-/D+.

Yes. Book of Eli was similar to Fallout, more than any post-apocalyptic movie I've seen. Maybe the writers of Book of Eli got some ideas from Fallout 3. And most people that are familiar with the Fallout series thought it was a Fallout movie at first. There were many posts, blogs, comments, videos..etc on the internet about it. Just google Fallout 3 Book of Eli.

*Dons flame retardant suit" Guess I will go out on a limb here and say I really liked the movie. I am a religious person, and liked the whole "lay a path before you" thing. To each their own.
