Book suggestions?

Post » Tue Mar 25, 2014 11:56 am

Okay! So, I don't read many books although I'd like to as I've lost most of my interest in movies at this point. The trouble is I have a hard time finding a book/story I actually like/connect with and then instead of being a fun imaginative experience it feels more or less like a chore (I guess I have school to thank for that one.) I'm sure I could spend hours on the G Machine (Yeah, I felt hip saying that.) looking up peoples top tens but I'd rather get suggestions from you guys. I'm not looking for anything overly serious, tell me what you guys like.

So without knowing a single thing about me, what books would you recommend I read? (Of course, this is assuming books are still a thing.)

Also, if one thing must be known I enjoy dark humour quite a bit, not in a crazy beheaded goat in a pentagram sort of way but more of the cynical out look on life style.

Thanks.

Um, animal farm? Hah. I finally got around to reading it recently.

Also i've been reading some 'gatekeeper' series from anthony horowitz or something, though its getting pretty lackluster. Don't think its good.

Hours on google? Seems like it would take about 1 minute to find what are considered great books.
If you don't know what you want to read, then you can literally pick up any book and test it out. You have nothing to lose.

It might be helpful to browse through the http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1482535-what-books-are-you-reading-3/ thread.

With nothing to go one except that rather ubiquitous statement... How dark? Kurt Vonnegut dark, or Chuck Palahniuk dark? Two authors you might want to research.

Random great books to get you going...

Spoiler

Moby dike

Crime and Punishment
Dune
The Sun also Rises
Love in the Time of Cholera

War of the Worlds
The Lord of the Rings
On the Road
The Graqes of Wrath
One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest
Don Quixote
Brave New World
A Clockwork Orange
